Job Description

As Graduate Magnet Technologist, you will will gain hands-on experience across multiple R&D workstreams supporting magnet development and facility testing.

Your core responsibilities:

  • Support R&D in the design, modelling and performance evaluation of superconducting magnets and components; assist with the commissioning and operation of cryogenic test rigs and coil/material characterisation, including data analysis and documentation.
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of fusion relevant topics and apply this learning to assigned projects.
  • Contribute to manufacturing and inspection process development for HTS conductors and coils, maintaining quality records and working with academic and industrial partners to improve technology readiness.
  • Identify areas where improvements could be made to experimental apparatus, process plant systems and to operational practices and methodologies.
  • Liaise with other teams and groups to build networks and to ensure effective collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Science or Engineering from 2025 or '26
  • Confident with all Microsoft applications including Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Driven, with a strong appetite to learn and take on new challenges
  • Able to collaborate effectively and communicate clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Well organised and adaptable with the ability to plan and prioritise workload
