Are you ready to take the next step in your career? Do you thrive in a dynamic environment where every day is different? Would you like to be an essential part of our facility's smooth operation? We are currently looking for a Facilities Assistant to join our busy team in Lea Riverside.
As a Facilities Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the day-to-day operations and maintenance of our organisation's facilities. With the guidance of your Manager, you'll manage various contractors and maintenance tasks to ensure everything runs smoothly. Your responsibilities will include overseeing contractor coordination, ensuring all necessary safety documentation is in place, managing communication with our cleaning staff and maintenance service providers, and performing minor electrical and plumbing tasks. You will also participate in regular facility inspections, assist in ordering maintenance supplies, and respond to facility-related inquiries.

Hours of Work:
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • General planned maintenance tasks including gardening, painting, basic building upkeep, minor electrical and plumbing tasks, gulley and drainage cleaning
  • Respond to facility-related enquiries and issues as they arise.
  • Routine buildings and grounds walk-arounds to identify any issues or necessary maintenance.
  • Assist in overseeing and coordinating contractors on site, ensuring all necessary documentation such as Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMs) are obtained and work permits issued before work commences.
  • Help ensure that inductions for contractors and staff are up to date.
  • Ensure that suppliers used by buildings and facilities have provided current documentation including a SHEQ questionnaire, insurance, health & safety, RAMS, and related documents prior to coming on site.
  • Check that contractors such as cleaning, service providers like HVAC, PAT testers, and drainage specialists are delivered to the correct standard and report to relevant manager if not
  • Assist in estimating maintenance tasks and managing the Building Management System (BMS) across sites.

Skills And Qualifications Required

  • Some experience in facilities management or a similar role preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Ability to assist in operating material handling equipment such as forklifts, cherry pickers, and scissor lifts safely (training will be provided if necessary).
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new tasks.
