Job description
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Health and Safety Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all employees by implementing and overseeing safety policies and procedures. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying potential hazards, conducting risk assessments, and fostering a culture of safety within the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in compliance with legal regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Prepare detailed reports on safety incidents, including root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on health and safety practices, including first aid procedures.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
- Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety awareness throughout the organisation.
- Maintain accurate records of safety-related documentation, including training logs and incident reports.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and changes in legislation related to health and safety.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a health and safety Officer or in a similar role within an industrial or corporate environment.
- Knowledge of waste management - desirable
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Excellent report writing skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation.
- Certification in first aid is highly desirable.
- Experience in conducting root cause analysis for incidents is advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating strong leadership qualities.
- Relevant qualifications in occupational health and safety or a related field would be beneficial.
- Background in waste management would be advantageous but not essential.
