3PL Manager
We're looking for a commercially minded, outcome-driven 3PL Manager to own the performance, cost, and continuous improvement of all third-party logistics partnerships across Octopus' network - spanning inbound, storage, fulfilment, and distribution. You'll ensure our partners deliver operational excellence, cost efficiency, and sustainability through data-led insight, strong governance, and open-book collaboration.
This role sits at the intersection of supplier performance, commercial strategy, and operational delivery - driving accountability and continuous improvement across multiple logistics partners.
It's an exciting opportunity for someone who loves combining commercial acumen, data, and collaboration to deliver measurable impact across a fast-moving, purpose-driven supply chain.
One of the primary operating locations for this role will be our Harlow site, with additional site visits scheduled based on operational demand. Octopus follows a flexible working policy, so wider working patterns can be arranged around business needs.
What you'll do
- Operational Delivery & Daily Efficiency
- Be on the ground with our 3PL partners to understand real-time challenges and workflows.
- Observe loading, routing, and site activities to validate processes and identify improvement opportunities.
- Troubleshoot issues as they arise and act as the point of escalation for urgent service failures.
- Lead root-cause investigations on missed slots, delivery failures, damages, and system issues.
- Work with drivers, planners, and warehouse teams to unblock issues quickly and prevent repeat failures.
- Ensure day-to-day execution consistently meets agreed SLAs and service standards.
- Demonstrated experience managing 3PL or carrier relationships end-to-end across multiple service areas.
- Proven track record in performance management, cost optimisation, and continuous improvement.
- Strong commercial and analytical skills — confident using data to drive decisions.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Finance, Procurement, and Operations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-engagement skills.
- Comfortable operating at all levels — from warehouse floor to leadership presentations.
- Familiarity with logistics systems, reporting tools (Excel, Power BI), and collaboration platforms (Slack, SharePoint).
- Strong understanding of open-book principles, SLA design, and continuous improvement.
- Excited by fast-paced growth, complex problem-solving, and creating structure within scale-up environments.
