We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Welfare Officer who will also serve as the Attendance Officer, Safer Recruitment Assistant, and Administration Assistant. This is a key role within our provision, supporting student wellbeing, ensuring compliance with safeguarding practices, and providing essential administrative support to the Senior Leadership Team.

Key Responsibilities

Safeguarding & Welfare

  • Act as part of the Safeguarding Team
  • Manage and respond to safeguarding concerns in line with statutory guidance and RISE policies
  • Liaise with external agencies, parents/carers, and social services
  • Maintain detailed, confidential safeguarding and welfare records
  • Promote a safe, supportive culture across the provision

Safer Recruitment

  • Support safer recruitment procedures for staff, volunteers, and visitors
  • Support the induction process, ensuring safeguarding training and policies are completed

Attendance

  • Monitor attendance, punctuality, and engagement
  • Complete daily attendance checks, and follow-ups
  • Produce attendance data on request
  • Work with families and external partners to improve student attendance

Administration

  • Write and update risk assessments for students, environments, and activities
  • Prepare and organise EHCP paperwork, supporting evidence, and annual review reports
  • Assist the Senior Leadership Team with meeting preparation, data management, and general administrative tasks
  • Support wider office operations to ensure smooth daily running of the provision
  • Carry out general administrative duties, including filing, correspondence, and maintaining accurate records

Additional Duties

  • Responsibilities may evolve and adapt to meet the changing needs of RISE Alternative Provision
  • Other tasks and roles may be reasonably directed by the Directors in line with organisational priorities

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience working with vulnerable young people or in an education/pastoral/welfare setting
  • Understanding of safeguarding legislation, safer recruitment, and child protection procedures
  • Strong organisational, communication, and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality
  • Confident IT user with experience of data entry and report writing
  • Team player with a calm, supportive, and solution-focused approach

Desirable

  • Previous experience in an alternative provision, SEND, or pastoral role
  • Experience maintaining a Single Central Record
  • DSL training or willingness to undertake training
  • Knowledge of EHCP processes, risk assessments, and multi-agency working
