KPMG is investing £5bn over 5 years in technology and our goal is to achieve the highest standards of quality and to deliver excellent solutions for our clients. We are currently a team of 240+ technologists providing technology enablement services and solutions across the Tax and Legal business, and we expect to continue to grow over the course of the next 12 months. The successful candidate would form part of this team.

The team is made up of Technology Consultants, Business Analysts, Product Owners, Data Architects & Engineers, Multi-disciplinary Engineering teams and IT Service delivery professionals working on a large portfolio of systems used to improve productivity and solve key business problems across Tax & Legal. 

Role Overview:

The Tax Technology & Innovation ('TT&I') Director role offers the candidate the opportunity to apply their Data and Analytics skills in a unique way, working as part of our rapidly growing TT&I team. You will be part of a team that will be at the forefront of changing an entire industry, helping our clients adapt and make the most of technological advances to help them better manage their tax obligations.

The successful candidate will work across our Data Analytics and Automation teams, originating and delivering data transformation, data-driven analytics and automation projects across KPMG's Tax & Legal practice for our largest clients You will architect and oversee the delivery of solutions using a combination of KPMG built software, 3rd party tools and custom technology to solve problems for our clients.

Working with UK and offshore teams in an agile environment, you will lead on a range of projects for a large and diverse client base.  As part of this client-facing role, you will also be involved in business development activities, working with Partners and Directors to build our sales pipeline, identifying further opportunities to collaborate with our colleagues across Tax & Legal to build and sell our tech services.

The ideal candidate will have a background in tax compliance and industry knowledge, as well as a wide range of skills in data engineering, analytics and automation tooling and concepts.

Together with the tax business, you will develop the go to market strategy, take the engagement lead role on the design and delivery of client specific solutions based on KPMG's tax technology capabilities and shape the technology element of KPMG's response to proposals for tax services.

The role will be based in our London Office (Canada Square). You will be expected to spend a minimum of two days a week in the office collaborating with the team and stakeholders.  Travel to other regional offices and visits to client sites will be required.

Skills & experience we're looking for:

Experience implementing complex technology solutions for multi-national corporations operating globallyExperience leading complex, high-profile transformation and technology projectsAbility to generate and progress leads to sales for large, global clients and as part of complex multi-disciplinary proposalsProven experience using Microsoft's Cloud Data tools to deliver solutions - Includes Power BI, Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric, Azure ML and Purview. Excellent knowledge of Alteryx or equivalent tools, ideally with the Alteryx Designer Advanced or Expert certification or equivalentA highly motivated mindset, with the ability to engage and lead a team on a variety of high profile internal and external projects, delivering to agreed deadlines and budgets even under pressureAbility to build and execute strong internal and external relationshipsAbility to work autonomously with the confidence to make your own decisionsEffective judgement – knowing when to consult and doing this in a timely mannerExcellent organisational, time management, delegation and review skills, with a results driven mentalityExcellent people and performance / talent management skillsStrong problem solving skills and ability to logically analyse complex requirements, processes and systems to put solutions in place.Passionate about using data to drive key business decisions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

You may also have:

  • Experience implementing solutions using Azure data platform, particularly the use of data flows and source system connectors via Azure Data Factory.
  • SQL and Python programming skills, along with a good understanding of Machine Learning techniques
  • Experience using data platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake
  • Experience of scripting languages such as Javascript, R, Powershell or VBScriptIn this role you will:
  • Lead a team of analysts & engineers building and deploying innovative, scalable solutions for clients.
  • Oversee the delivery of complex data transformation, analytics, and automation projects for clients, ensuring compliance with risk and IT governance policies.
  • Coordinate business development activities with senior colleagues across Tax & Law, supporting responses to RFPs and presenting on pitches.
  • Identify the best solution for a given scenario, liaising with external software vendors as appropriate.
  • Work with partners and directors to implement our tech strategy, taking an active role in generating a sustainable pipeline of work
  • Embed best practice and a culture of quality in the team, taking responsibility for the learning pathways of junior colleagues.
  • Coach, mentor, and performance manage junior members of the team to fulfil their career aspirations and potential.
