The Post
The National Clinical Informatics Service for Scotland (NCISS) is involved in Clinical Safety Assurance of Health IT; Software as a Medical Device; Health & Care Analytics; Clinical Terminologies; Digital Health & Care Solutions; Clinical Data & Information; Research & Innovation; and Training & Events.

Scotland's Digital Health and Care Strategy makes a commitment to develop and embed a standards based approach to clinical and care safety cases for all major systems. NCISS has a vital role in supporting this commitment. With the resulting increased demand for clinical assurance on a range of new IT solutions, an exciting opportunity has been created to strengthen our Clinical Informatics Team. Our Consultant Clinical Informaticians, working as clinical advisers, play a critical role in enhancing the clinical safety of a range of IT solutions being developed/supported by the Digital & Security Business Unit by providing clinical advisory and clinical safety input to national programmes.

Key elements of the role currently will include working with a variety of national programme teams as a clinical adviser providing input both from a clinical safety perspective and as a subject matter expert to support migrations, development and testing of new system functionality, as well as advice to support the Business As Usual team, ensuring a robust approach to risk management including adverse event management through the full software lifecycle.

The Candidate
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme/Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.

Candidates must have current GPhC registration at the time of applying.

Location and Working Pattern:
Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Delta House, Glasgow.

Currently hybrid working.

Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
