Support Worker/Personal Assistant required to work with a young adult with cerebral palsy in her home/community in North Scarle area, Lincolnshire.

I am a 17-year-old girl that lives with my loving and caring family in a home adapted to suit my needs. I am bright and happy and enjoy lots of interaction and fun activities. I need assistance with my daily living needs, including personal care, daily therapy exercises, playing, learning and accessing activities, and help me to reach my full potential.

Can you provide me with complex, personal centred care and help to give me the best quality of life within my abilities. Can you help me learn and develop and enjoy as many activities as possible. Are you a dynamic, creative person who wants a role that will give you as much as you give me.

A car driver is essential as I like to go out and about and explore new activities and adventures. Experience of driving wheelchair accessible vehicles is preferred.

Do you have skills working with a young person with complex physical and communication needs. The required support will need to show reliability, good teamwork and commitment to working with the client. You will work on a rota basis which includes weekdays, weekends, evenings and occasional breaks away with the client and family. You will be working as part of a small team and will be given specific training by specialists and therapists to teach you how to achieve the client's potential.

It is desirable that the successful support worker has the following skills and experience:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
  • Experience of working with young people with complex health needs
  • Experience of working in a client's home
  • Experience of hoisting/manual handling
  • Experience of PEG feeding
  • Sound understanding of good care principles
  • Excellent communication skills

You will be required to work approximately 16-20 hours per week, undertaking a variety of shifts as follows:

· Evenings 4.00pm-8.30pm

· Saturday/Sunday 8.30am-4.30pm

Occasional late night/evenings and overnights maybe required.

Additional hours may be available to cover annual leave or sickness.

Pay Rates: £14.00 to £15.50 per hour
