Finance Digital PR Executive

Role Summary

We are seeking a Digital PR Executive to work alongside our SEO and Digital PR Manager on our clients in the finance space. This is a great opportunity to work with both startups and enterprise clients, developing tailored strategies that drive exceptional outcomes.

In addition to working with clients, you will play a role in Oxford Comma's internal growth by contributing to the agency's marketing, lead generation, and positioning in the industry. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives on solving problems, embraces challenges, and is eager to learn and grow.

Key Responsibilities

Digital PR:

• Plan and deliver digital PR campaigns for finance-focused clients, ensuring strategies are aligned with SEO goals and broader marketing objectives.
• Develop newsworthy stories, campaigns, and data-led angles that resonate with financial journalists and audiences.
• Build and maintain relationships with key finance, business, and national press contacts to secure high-quality coverage and links.
• Monitor the media landscape for reactive PR opportunities, industry developments, and competitor activity.
• Collaborate with the SEO team to ensure digital PR activity drives measurable performance and contributes to organic growth.

Content writing:

• Write compelling, accurate, and well-researched content on finance and related topics, adapting tone and style to suit target audiences.
• Develop content assets for PR campaigns, including press releases, thought-leadership articles, reports, and data-led stories.
• Translate complex financial concepts into clear, engaging content for both B2C and B2B audiences.
• Support client content strategies with on-site content, blogs, and long-form assets where needed.
• Ensure all content meets high editorial standards and is optimised for both media engagement and SEO performance.

Client relationship management:

• Build strong relationships with clients, serving as a point of contact alongside our SEO and Digital PR Manager
• Present complex SEO strategies and results in a clear, actionable manner.
• Adapt communication to suit diverse stakeholders, from startup founders to enterprise C-suite executives.

Analytics and reporting:

• Use tools like Google Analytics, Ahrefs, SEMRush and Screaming Frog to monitor performance and crawl sites.
• Deliver insightful reports and identify opportunities for further growth.

What We're Looking For

Must-have skills:

• Proven experience in digital PR for finance clients 
  or
   as a finance/business journalist working on the other side of digital PR.
• Strong understanding of retail finance products and the wider financial services landscape.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with accountability.
• Analytical mindset with experience using tools such as Google Analytics.
• Confident presenter able to explain complex ideas clearly to clients and stakeholders.
• Proactive, problem-solving attitude with a drive to deliver results.
• Experience managing reactive communications and crisis/issues response.
• Experience with digital PR tools, media monitoring platforms, or PR automation systems

Soft skills:

• Confidence, eloquence, and eagerness to learn.
• Versatility and adaptability to handle diverse client needs.
• Ability to think and work independently with guidance.

Preferred skills:

• Established relationships with finance or business journalists, or the ability to quickly build strong media connections.
• Experience securing high-quality coverage and backlinks in top-tier finance, business, or national publications.
• Strong storytelling ability, with experience turning complex data or financial concepts into compelling narratives.
• Familiarity with digital storytelling through multiple formats, including video, audio, and social media.
• Familiarity with digital PR strategies, including link-building, reactive PR, and campaign ideation.
• Knowledge of SEO principles and how digital PR contributes to organic growth.
