Overview

We are seeking an experienced Responsible Individual to help establish and provide ongoing oversight of our new children's residential home. In this role, you will work closely with the Registered Manager and Directors to ensure the home delivers a safe, nurturing, and stable environment for the children in our care. The position requires strong leadership, a thorough understanding of relevant regulations, and a commitment to high-quality practice. This is a unique opportunity to shape a new service from the ground up and make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.

Responsibilities

  • Support the registration and launch of the new childrens home
  • Provide oversight to ensure the home meets Ofsted requirements and legislative standards
  • Work closely with the Registered Manager to monitor and maintain high quality care
  • Ensure safeguarding practices are robust and consistently followed
  • Review internal reports, audits, and care documentation to support continuous improvement
  • Build strong relationships with local authorities, external professionals, and internal teams
  • Support staff development and reflective practice across the service
  • Promote trauma informed and child centred approaches
  • Provide regular updates to Directors and contribute to planning and service development

Skills

  • Proven leadership and management experience within a regulated children's residential setting
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection legislation and children's home regulations
  • Experience supporting or overseeing Ofsted registration processes is advantageous
  • Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop staff teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with families, local authorities, and external agencies
  • Solid understanding of care planning, trauma-informed practice, and the needs of children with complex emotional or behavioural requirements
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
  • Relevant qualifications such as the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • A calm, resilient, and child-centred approach with a commitment to promoting positive outcomes

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £13,000.00-£26,000.00 per year
