London, Greater London, United Kingdom Safe Haven Homes Limited Full time

Company Description

Safehaven Homes Ltd is an established care provider delivering high-quality residential support across our existing services for women and for children with complex mental health needs. We specialise in creating safe, structured, and therapeutic environments that promote stability, resilience, and long-term recovery.

As we expand our provision, we are preparing to open a new children's residential home in London. This service will offer a nurturing, trauma-informed setting for children and young people who require personalised support, emotional stability, and consistent care. Our commitment remains the same across all our homes: to provide safe, compassionate spaces where children and young people can grow, heal and thrive.

Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Responsible Individual to support the launch and ongoing oversight of our new children's home. This role is based in London, with strategic responsibility across the service and close collaboration with the Registered Manager and Directors.

The Responsible Individual will ensure the home operates in full compliance with Ofsted regulations, children's home legislation, and our organisational standards. Key responsibilities include providing leadership and governance, ensuring robust safeguarding practices, monitoring care quality, supporting staff development, and maintaining effective relationships with local authorities, external professionals and internal teams.

As this is a new home, the role also involves shaping the service from the ground up, supporting the registration process, embedding our values and ensuring that children experience a stable, emotionally secure environment from day one.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven leadership and management experience within a regulated children's residential setting
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection legislation, and children's home regulations
  • Experience supporting or overseeing Ofsted registration processes is advantageous
  • Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop staff teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with families, local authorities, and external agencies
  • Solid understanding of care planning, trauma-informed practice, and the needs of children with complex emotional or behavioural requirements
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
  • Relevant qualifications such as the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • A calm, resilient, and child-centred approach with a commitment to promoting positive outcomes
