Care & Support Workers – Waking Nights

Average of 2-3 nights per week (shifts will predominantly run between 8pm and 8am)

Plymouth Area

£12.50 per hour

*£75 per sleep in (*if applicable)

The role may also include sleep in duties and daytime cover may also be available in addition to waking nights.

This role is due to commence in late January - early February 2026.

We are seeking caring, reliable and conscientious people to join our friendly team, supporting Dougie, a young man with learning disabilities and epilepsy, who will be moving into his own home in the Plymouth area in the near future. We are building a team around Dougie who can effectively and safely support him to live an exciting, active and healthy new life, so are seeking people with a desire to make a genuine difference and help build a positive environment.

Ideally, you will have experience and knowledge of supporting people with learning disabilities and epilepsy, however, we don't believe that experience is everything, so if you have a positive attitude, a natural ability to get along with others and a desire to assist people to live their best life, we'd love to hear from you.

This role will include overnight epilepsy monitoring, so you will need to be vigilant, have an eye for detail, be able to follow protocol and have excellent recording skills, in order to ensure that you assist to create a safe environment and help better Dougie's health and quality of life.

Waking Night duties will include:

  • Closely monitoring and recording any epileptic activity and provide assistance as required in line with seizure protocols

  • Completing detailed records as directed

  • Providing responsive and person-centred physical and emotional support to Dougie as and when required

-Providing personal care assistance as required / directed in Dougie's Care and Support Plan

-Encouraging regular sleep patterns in accordance with Dougie's Care and Support Plan

-Ensuring medical needs are met as required

  • Ensuring the safety of Dougie by providing supervision, support and intervention as required and as directed in his support plan

  • Completing household tasks as set out in the Support Plan / Daily Operational File

  • Completing nightly report forms and other documentation as directed

  • Creating a positive, happy and safe environment in which Dougie can thrive

  • Building positive, trusting and respectful relationships with Dougie's family and circle of support
