Health Care Support Worker

Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals in various care settings, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and home care environments. The role involves supporting clients with their daily needs, promoting independence, and ensuring their safety and well-being. Duties
- Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Support with medication administration in accordance with prescribed care plans
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements
- Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote mental and physical well-being
- Monitor and record changes in behaviour or health status, reporting any concerns promptly
- Assist with mobility and transfers using appropriate techniques and equipment
- Manage behaviour effectively, especially in cases involving dementia or Alzheimer's care
- Provide emotional support and companionship to reduce feelings of loneliness or isolation
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and adhere to all health and safety protocols
- Drive clients safely to appointments or outings when required
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
Experience
- Previous experience working within a care home, nursing home, or home care setting is highly desirable
- Knowledge of medical terminology, care plans, and case management processes is advantageous
- Experience in dementia, Alzheimer's, or hospice care will be considered a strong asset
- Certification in first aid is preferred but not essential; training can be provided for suitable candidates
- Proven ability to handle heavy lifting safely and effectively when assisting clients with mobility needs
- Familiarity with medication administration procedures and patient care protocols is beneficial
- Demonstrated skills in behaviour management and compassionate caregiving are essential for success in this role
Candidates should possess excellent communication skills, patience, empathy, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A valid driving licence is advantageous for roles involving home visits. All applicants must be committed to delivering respectful, person-centred support that enhances the quality of life for those they assist.
