A vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Richmond upon Thames is seeking a passionate and insightful Sociology Teacher to join their Social Sciences department on a permanent basis. The Role:

  • Deliver engaging and thought-provoking Sociology lessons across Key Stages 4 and 5, introducing students to key sociological concepts, theories, and research methods.
  • Foster a critical awareness of social issues and inequalities, encouraging students to analyze and evaluate different perspectives on contemporary social problems.
  • Create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment where students feel confident to discuss and debate sociological ideas, applying their knowledge to real-world situations.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a stimulating Sociology curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.
  • Incorporate a range of teaching methods and resources, including documentaries, debates, and research projects, to enhance student understanding.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance to support their sociological development.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A strong understanding of the UK A-Level Sociology specification.
  • A degree in Sociology or a related field.
  • A proven track record of successful teaching and learning outcomes in Sociology.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  • A passion for Sociology and a commitment to fostering critical thinking and social awareness in young people.
