The Employee Relations (ER) & HR Operations function forms a key part of MRI's global Talent Management strategy, as a key point of contact for our employees while also supporting management in leading their teams through effective coaching and support.

MRI is seeking a dynamic, results-driven culture lead to help drive business value in ER & HR Operations. The Employee Relations & HR Operations Manager will focus on delivery of effective & consistent global ER & HR operations for our nearly 1,000 employees located in UK, Ireland, and UAE, and will manage a team of three team members located in the UK and UAE, whilst partnering closely on escalations from our HR Shared Services team in the Philippines. They will be responsible for ensuring our ER & Ops run efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with UK/Ireland/UAE employment law. This role leads on complex ER casework, provides trusted guidance to managers & HR leadership, and helps oversee HR processes such as payroll, contracts, benefits, systems, and compliance. In addition to leading the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) region, this individual forms part of a global Employee Relations team and will work closely with their counterparts in North America & Asia Pacific, so having someone who is enthusiastic about working on a global team & company is a must

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Global & Regional Talent Management leadership to support the execution of the Global ER & Ops Strategy, and support the Global VP, Employee Relations & Operations in understanding key Regional issues.
  • Provide leadership & development to three Employee Relations/Operations team members located in the UK and UAE; Monitor workflow and capacity in addition to their own casework, as well as handle escalations.
  • Acts as SME and provide senior-level guidance and support to leaders on Employee Relations (ER) best practices, conflict resolution, and proactive people management. This role is hands on and responsible for managing higher-level ER cases & paperwork in addition to handling team escalations on such cases.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for complex ER cases, including disciplinaries, grievances, capability assessments, absences, appeal processes, and ensure consistent, fair, and legally compliant handling of matters in line with local employment law & ACAS guidelines.
  • Monitor ER case trends and provide insights to inform policy updates, employee engagement, training needs, and cultural initiatives. Provide Risk Management advise to the business based on our findings.
  • Responsible for all employee policies and procedures as outlined in the regional Employee Handbooks, and reviews the handbooks regularly to ensure compliance. Ensures consistent application of policies & procedures across the business.
  • Oversee day to day HR operations in partnership with the HR Shared Services (HRSS) team, including HR systems, payroll, benefits administration, and employee data & document accuracy. Accountable for all EMEA escalations from HRSS involving basic HR questions & support across HR operations.
  • Partner with Finance/Payroll team on payroll queries & issues that overlap between the two functions. Attend regular payroll meetings to ensure information is accurate & flowing.
  • Responsible for all employee policies and procedures as outlined in the regional Employee Handbooks, and reviews the handbooks regularly to ensure compliance. Ensures consistent application of policies & procedures across the business.
  • Manage and/or support audits, risk reviews, and compliance checks relating to HR operations.
  • In partnership with global Total Rewards & HRSS, advises on regional employee benefit design & execution (private medical, income protection, pension, etc.), as well as day to day administration as needed.
  • Is a key player in the onboarding and employment transfer (TUPE) of acquired employees, managing talent M&A activities for EMEA.
  • Manage and process all company sponsored visa holders in partnership with an external partner.
  • Is an active supporter & participant in regional Employee Engagement initiatives including employee events, happy hours, ROAR charity initiatives/events, core values initiatives, and other.
  • Understand and embed Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging objectives into everyday practice and ER/HR Operations activities. Partner with the organisation to support & reinforce our diversity commitment.

Pre-requisites

  • 5+ years Employee Relations experience required. Ability to manage complex ER cases & paperwork independently (including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, redundancy, dismissals, etc.) is critical.
  • 2+ years People Leadership experience required
  • Sound UK HR knowledge and experience, keeps abreast of regional ER requirements (a plus would be experience with Ireland & UAE)
  • Sound knowledge and/or experience with UK Compensation and Benefits, Payroll, Performance Management, as well as Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion principles.
  • Strong relationship and stakeholder management; influencing skills and able to partner with senior leadership on key issues
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to flex work hours and join regular meetings/calls outside of standard UK business hours (primarily evenings), to partner with global ER team.
