ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

In 2023, SBC Media hired a Commercial Director both to drive top line growth across the media portfolio and bring operational efficiency, which includes transitioning from the existing sales team selling both events and media to building a dedicated media sales team. 

The Senior Media Sales Exec will be tasked with driving the continued growth of SBC Media solutions across the their allocated base of clients and in particular increasing the value of media sales across the media brands and providing the necessary focus to better serve our clients

Having grown revenue by approximately 175% over the past three years, SBC Media has significant traction that we seek to continue by building a strong sales team. The majority of the company's growth has been organic, which further launches on schedule but also recently made its first acquisition in the Canadian market.

The Senior Media Sales Exec will report to the Commercial Director for SBC Media, in the UK and will be expected to work autonomously to develop their own pipeline within their allocated client base which will have a potential global footprint.  

From the outset the Senior Media Sales Exec will be expected to build relationships with existing clients within their base and ensure that they are sold media solutions effectively. You will be expected to build internal relationships with other SBC Sales and other department staff to identify opportunities for pipeline development and sales. 

The Senior Media Sales Exec must be visible in the market and expert in listening to clients' needs, empathising with them and adapting to help them find solutions and solve their problems through SBC Media's product and services. In making strategic recommendations and contributing new ideas, he/she will need to keep abreast of industry trends and competitor activity. An expert knowledge of business development and a proven track record of creating effective relationships with clients is required. Initially the role will be to develop new business opportunities and sales within their allocated client list and to account manage these clients to ensure repeat business. 

ABOUT YOU

A strong, demonstrable background of B2B sales, account management and relationship building

  • Experience selling advertising and media services for a B2B media company
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to open doors and build rapport and deep relationships with industry executives across levels
  • Ability to build and maintain their own motivation to hit targets in a developing environment 
  • Ability to identify new business opportunities within new clients 
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Able to deal with rapidly changing priorities and business circumstances
  • Engage  people at all levels to contribute ideas and solve problems
  • Impactful in connecting across businesses / regions
  • Able to build trust and engage in constructive debate on key issues
  • Demonstrable track record delivering successful solutions to complex customer requirements
  • Ability to collaborate across functions, focusing  on delivery not hierarchy

It would be nice if you had:

  • Knowledge of the betting and gaming industry landscape
  • Spanish or Portuguese language capabilities
  • Experience with Google Drive/Docs, and/or Microsoft Office 
  • Experience working with CRM systems for sales (HubSpot)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Sell advertising, content and multimedia services across SBC's portfolio of media products (news websites, business directory, newsletter, magazine, podcasts, webinars, etc.)
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients as well as new customers 
  • Understanding their needs and selling SBC media services to meet those needs
  • Contribute to SBC Media's growth strategy by providing market intelligence and new ideas to meet the needs of our clients and partners, as well as potential new business opportunities for SBC
  • Work closely with colleagues on the media delivery, editorial and marketing teams to ensure SBC Media delivers the promised services to client expectations, and preferably above expectations
  • Make key contributions to ensuring potential is realised for SBC Media's flagship brands, ensuring we are maximising revenue potential across the services offered
  • Contribute to the sales team growth and effort by achieving consistent and growing sales results, across the portfolio and individual targeted projects , and by providing feedback and input to improve our services to better meet customer needs
  • Manage the sales cycle; including sales planning, lead generation, relationship building and management, as well as sales reporting
  • Profile both new and existing customers by consistently using the CRM system, collecting and updating contact information and logging all activity, to keep it up to date and complete
  • Attend and represent the company at events and exhibitions potentially in Europe, North America and Latin America
