We are seeking to appoint a Senior University Practitioner in Games Development.

The School of Computing & Engineering is a research-intensive environment where academics developing tomorrow's technology teach the next generation of computing and engineering professionals.

Building on our legacy of producing award-winning graduates in Artificial Intelligence (Al), computing, computer game development, and cyber security, we have a strategy for expansion that requires the very best academic staff.

We'll support your growth in developing and applying your new ideas. We'll help you develop as an academic, and we'll provide opportunities for you to grow your career and become the best version of yourself.

As Senior University Practitioner in Games Development, you will have an established record of industrial/professional and/or research outputs that are relevant to the post as well as a Master's degree in a relevant area. You will have experience working with diverse teams, and you'll be able to translate this into a teaching experience that is unparalleled in the university sector. You will be looking to develop your skills and experience working alongside university students. You will also demonstrate your drive to achieve excellence.

You will be required to demonstrate professional activity that is relevant to the role, and we are particularly interested in candidates who are active in two or more of the following areas:

  • Programming
  • Unreal Engine and Blueprint scripting
  • Game mechanics
  • Prototype optimisation
  • Game development lifecycle
  • Game design principles

As a Practitioner, we expect you to be actively engaged in practice in addition to your role at the University. This can be either through paid employment with another employer, paid consultancy or freelance work.

You will want to accelerate your personal and career growth by immersing yourself in a stimulating environment. You will crave a supportive environment that expects you to succeed, and you'll have a clear vision of a rewarding and fulfilling career.

You'll be fully committed to equal opportunities and demonstrate an inquisitive attitude towards novel and engaging approaches to research and teaching.

The University is deeply committed to equality and diversity for all its students and staff. We seek to be diverse and inclusive, supporting individuals and groups to fulfil their potential and nurture a sense of belonging. We strive to be an accessible, inclusive employer, removing barriers for all. Find out more about our approach to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, including our commitments and accreditations as a Disability Confident Employer, Stonewall Gold Award holder and Top 100 Employer, Athena SWAN Bronze Award holder and Race Equality Charter Bronze Award holder.

If you are a current student at the University, you are welcome to apply for part-time roles of 16 hours or less per week, unless you are a part-time postgraduate student, in which case you can also apply for full time roles, subject to any visa requirements.
