Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to support the daily operations of our childcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for early childhood education and working with children. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a nurturing environment where children's development is at the forefront. The Deputy Manager will assist in overseeing staff, ensuring high standards of care, and maintaining effective communication with parents and team members.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Manager in the organisation and supervision of daily nursery activities
- Support the planning and implementation of educational programmes tailored to children's developmental needs
- Lead and motivate staff to deliver high-quality childcare services
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and safeguarding policies and procedures
- Maintain effective communication with parents, providing updates on children's progress and addressing concerns
- Oversee staff rotas, recruitment, and performance appraisals
- Support the training and development of team members to enhance their skills
- Manage administrative tasks including record keeping, attendance, and reporting requirements
- Drive organisational initiatives to improve service quality and operational efficiency
Requirements
- Proven management and leadership experience within a childcare setting or nursery environment
- Strong understanding of early childhood education principles and child development stages
- Experience working with children, ideally within a nursery or early years setting
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Ability to lead a team effectively whilst fostering a positive work environment
- Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Early Years or equivalent are preferred
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and health & safety regulations in childcare settings
