Deputy Manager

Our Deputy managers are exceptional practitioners committed to developing their knowledge and experience in the field of early years education. Our deputies have proven ability at managing room staff and are excellent team players who are able to learn from and commit to a close working relationship with their nursery manager. They can take direction but are also happy using their initiative and working independently. They are committed to modelling good practice and a positive attitude within the nursery. Our Deputy Managers also have the confidence and skills to be responsible for the day to day running of the nursery in the manager's absence.
Responsibilities
- To support the manager to ensure the highest standards of early years care and education across the nursery
- To deputize confidently and effectively in the absence of the manager
- To help build and maintain a reputation as the nursery of choice in the area for both children and employees
- To offer administrative support to the manager as required
- To model and monitor best practice in the rooms
- To support and inspire the nursery team
- To support the manager throughout the process of enrolling new children
- Be the senior practitioner on the floor and have a sound knowledge of the nursery pedagogy, policies and procedures
- Be the person in charge when the manager is absent and ensure that functions such as staffing, answering enquiries, interfacing with parents and nursery health and safety policies are carried out seamlessly
- Carry out day to day tasks as required by the manager to support appropriate ratios and a fair and effective distributions of duties and responsibilities
- Complete administrative processes accurately and according to deadlines
- Support the manager in the delivering of staff supervision and performance management
- Carry out parent show rounds with confidence and a sound knowledge of the admissions process
- Assist in the induction and mentoring of new staff
- Ensure that statutory guidelines are always followed
- Support the manager in ensuring the health and safety of nursery children and staff
- Ensure each child is treated as an individual in the assessment and meeting of their needs
- Ensure that the outdoor learning environment is effectively used and maintained throughout the year
- Ensure children's academic progress and personal development is assessed and reported to parents in accordance with the Early Years Statutory Framework, school policies and procedures
- Support staff in the use of online assessment data to identify strengths and weaknesses and set challenging targets that will raise academic achievement
- Promote positive home/school links through daily interactions with parents and carers, and the use of online learning journeys
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, parent information sessions and nursery functions as appropriate, including marketing events and activities that may run during the evening or at the weekend
- Follow nursery policies and procedure on the use of personal data in accordance with General Data Protection Regulations
