Overview

A public sector body is seeking an experienced Test Specialist to support the testing and production rollout of a new API integration developed in Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Customer Service module). The integration enables seamless case data exchange between internal systems and an external partner's platform, supporting improved service delivery to users across the UK.

This is an opportunity to work within an agile product team, ensuring robust API performance, data accuracy, and end‑to‑end quality as the solution moves through testing, go‑live, and post‑implementation optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and execute functional and integration testing of a custom-built API to support production readiness.
  • Use Postman and related tools to test RESTful APIs, validate JSON payloads, and verify error‑handling scenarios.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, Dynamics 365 analysts, and data teams to support testing within a controlled environment.
  • Support the Product Manager in assessing and confirming go‑live readiness.
  • Contribute fully to agile team ceremonies (daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and reviews).
  • Scope and document test‑related work in Azure DevOps, providing clear feedback and risk reporting.
  • Review and enhance the API testing strategy to align with best practice and operational risk.
  • Once embedded, assess and recommend improvements to the broader Dynamics 365 testing approach.
  • Mentor and support an associate tester assigned to shadow this engagement.
  • Ensure all test artefacts and documentation are properly maintained and stored.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong background in API testing, particularly RESTful services and structured data validation (JSON/XML).
  • Proven experience using Postman for automated test scripting and test suite management.
  • Deep understanding of Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Customer Service module preferred).
  • Hands‑on experience testing Power Automate flows, including triggers, connectors, and conditional logic.
  • Ability to design and execute integration testing between internal and third‑party systems.
  • Demonstrable experience improving test processes, strategies, and governance standards.
  • Collaborative problem‑solving and defect analysis skills, using logs and monitoring tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working as part of an agile delivery team.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps Boards and Pipelines.
  • Prior experience in a public sector, legal, or enterprise data‑exchange environment.
  • ISTQB certification or equivalent.
