The purpose of the Role is to provide effective clerical support for a range of administrative activity within Reaching Wider: North and mid Wales Partnerships working on a national mentoring programme.

Candidates should have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C (incl. English and Maths) or NVQ level 2 in a relevant subject area or possess equivalent experience.

The successful candidate will be expected to commence as soon as possible.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is essential for this post.

This post is subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.

This role will be located on campus at Bangor. Through our Dynamic Working framework, there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely (although remaining in the UK) to support work life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview.

Overview

Reaching Wider North and Mid Wales partnership will be delivering a national mentoring programme across Wales. The project will recruit, train, and coordinate HE undergraduates to be mentors to learners engaged in 16-19 education, offering a package of mentoring support for the academic year 2023 to 2026.

The post holder will support the team with a range of clerical duties to support the team to deliver a successful programme.

Reaching Wider North and Mid Wales regional partners are Aberystwyth University, Bangor University, Wrexham Glyndwr University, Open University, Coleg Cambria, Coleg Ceredigion, Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, Grwp Llandrillo Menai and NPTC Grwp.

The Project

The online mentoring project is an initiative designed to widen access to higher education (HE) in Wales. Medr awarded grant funding for this targeted intervention, aimed to deliver a package of mentoring support for learners in Year's 9 through to year 13 (aged 14–19) in education within priority groups identified by Medr.

Using an online mentoring platform, Brightside, the programme has delivered online one-to-one mentoring, pairing mentees with undergraduate and postgraduate mentors studying in higher education institutions (HEIs) in Wales. The extension of funding is to expand the delivery to more of Reaching Wider's priority learners.

Purpose of the Job

The purpose of the role is to provide effective administrative support for this Medr funded project, supporting the project staff with project objectives and activities, ensure effective delivery of the project and compliance with relevant financial and procurement requirements as stipulated by the university and Medr.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure that all paperwork is completed accurately and meets audit requirements.

Supported by the Project Manager, liaise with the Project Accountant to raise and administer budgetary queries.

Monitor project partners and sub-contractors submission of invoices and any relevant supporting documents to ensure these are received in a timely manner, raising any issues or queries with the Project Manager.

Maintain effective administrative and financial systems and processes to efficiently process invoices and expenses.

Support the Project Officers with administrative tasks in relation to project objectives and activities.

Provide administrative support evaluation processes associated with the project in line with Medr monitoring requirements.

Participate in networks within the institution or externally in order to pass on information promptly and keep people informed to ensure co-ordination of effort and that work is done effectively.

Assist with the programme monitoring, data collection efforts and evaluations and ensure feedback is shared with the project participants to ensure continuous improvement of the project.

Running reports on the data to feed into Medr's Annual Monitoring Statement (AMS) as well as creating excel reports for specific feedback requests.

Provide administration support to facilitate the smooth running of programmes and events.

Carry out other administrative duties as required.

The post holder may be required to undertake other duties which fall within the grade of the job, in discussion with their manager.

Qualifications/Training

Essential

Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C (incl. English and Maths) or NVQ level 2 in a relevant subject area or possess equivalent experience in an administrative or clerical capacity.

Desirable

NVQ level 3 in a relevant subject area.

ECDL Certificate.

Experience/Knowledge
