Fundraising Manager

We are recruiting a Fundraising Manager to develop and manage The Death Penalty Project's new major donor and regular giving program. This is a new role in the organisation, and would be well-suited to a fundraising professional that is looking for a new challenge and relishes the opportunity to take real ownership of a function in a small, passionate and fast paced team. Responsibilities
Major donor fundraising
- Lead on the implementation of a major donor fundraising strategy to cultivate and secure funding from high-net-worth individuals
- Manage major donor database, ensuring thoughtful stewardship and, where relevant, timely submission of high-quality reports
- Research prospective major donors and prepare briefing notes and other resources ahead of meetings
- Manage cultivation and stewardship plans for current and prospective major donors, mobilising Co-Executive Directors and Board members to ensure relationships are managed to a high standard
- Develop and deliver fundraising campaigns for major donors
- Lead on stewardship and reporting for smaller, family-run trusts and foundations, in coordination with the Project Manager and Co-Executive Directors
Regular giving
- Lead on the implementation of a regular giving strategy to cultivate low-level digital giving
- Develop and manage monthly donor tracker to plan and track engagement
- Manage engagement with individual givers, including ensuring that they are thanked and receive tailored compelling marketing materials at appropriate intervals
- Work collaboratively with the Communications Lead to apply for and deliver external regular giving appeals
- Design and manage digital campaigns to upgrade existing regular givers
General
- Plan and organise a variety of events, from intimate dinners and drinks receptions to art exhibitions and lectures
- Work collaboratively across teams for the production of inspiring and tailored donor communications and website content, which focusses on impact and storytelling and strengthens funder engagement
- Lead on the development and efficient use of the organisation's CRM, conceptualising and implementing processes that promote efficiency, accuracy and maximise the use of automations
- Ensure all phone calls, meetings, emails and other engagement with major donors, regular givers and other prospective or current donors are logged on the CRM, keeping records clean
- Ensure Gift Aid declarations are sought and filed from all relevant donors and manage the timely submission of Gift Aid claims for all applicable donations
- Manage external platforms related to major donor and regular giving, including Benevity and JustGiving
- Manage the deposit and thanking mechanisms of any offline donations
- As the major donor and regular giving fundraising strategies are implemented, reflect on progress and learning, recommend alternate or additional approaches, then test these to achieve income ambitions
- Keep up to date with fundraising best practice, policy and relevant legislation, coordinating with the Communications Lead and Co-Executive Directors to ensure DPP is compliant with GDPR and fundraising regulations
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
- At least five years of relevant fundraising experience in the non-profit sector
- Demonstrable experience of cultivating and securing funding from major donors and monthly givers, with excellent management of funder relationships
- Event organisation experience, including events organised to cultivate relationships with current and prospective funders
- Track record of working collaboratively with other colleagues to effectively steward current and prospective funders and to develop appropriate communications and marketing materials
- Experience using a CRM tool for donor stewardship
- A self-starter who relishes the opportunity to take real ownership of a function, and that enjoys working in a small team, with rapidly changing priorities and deadlines, and a range of responsibilities
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to adapt tone and style to different audiences
- Very good organisational skills and a strong attention to detail
- A strong interest in human rights issues related to The Death Penalty Project's work
- Permission to live and work in the UK
Desirable:
- Experience fundraising for a human rights and/or social justice organisation
- Experience of developing the capacity of a CRM tool and creating automations
- Experience developing and managing a legacy giving programme
