London, Greater London, United Kingdom Starship Technologies Full time

Starship Technologies is revolutionizing deliveries with autonomous robots. These robots are designed to deliver food, groceries, and packages across college campuses and neighborhoods in minutes. Starship has now completed millions of autonomous deliveries to date, traveled millions of miles, and is currently doing more than 140k road crossings each day. Our contribution to society includes reducing congestion, and pollution, providing zero-emissions deliveries, increasing the quality of life for residents, empowering seniors and disabled people, and enabling affordable delivery for local businesses.

We're hitting records on an almost weekly basis. Now is an exciting time to join as we grow rapidly around the world

We're looking for an exceptional Sales Director to join our Business Development team at a pivotal moment in our European expansion.

You'll own the commercial strategy and execution for the UK and Nordic markets (Sweden, Norway, Denmark) while coordinating our broader European grocery sales efforts across Southern Europe, DACH, and emerging revenue streams.

This is a high-impact role, comprising 70% hands-on individual contributor responsibilities (hunting, closing, and expanding grocery accounts in the UK/Nordics) and 30% team coordination (leading a team of three).

You'll be responsible for closing 7-8 figure deals with major grocery retailers and quick commerce platforms, building the playbook for autonomous delivery adoption across Northern Europe, and elevating the performance of our European sales team through hands-on coaching and strategic coordination.

If you've sold complex technology solutions or platform services to grocery retailers or delivery platforms, understand the economics of last-mile delivery, and can operate with equal confidence in a boardroom and a Slack channel, keep reading.

We offer flexible base locations, primarily focusing on the UK and Finland. We will also strongly consider exceptional candidates currently based in Nordic markets (Sweden, Norway, or Denmark); let's connect and discuss the best fit.

Your main responsibilities are:

Individual Contribution & Execution (70% Focus)

  • Driving the commercial strategy and end-to-end sales cycle for autonomous delivery expansion across the UK and Nordic markets (Sweden, Norway, Denmark)
  • Building and closing net-new, multi-million dollar partnerships with major grocery retailers, regional chains, and quick commerce platforms
  • Leading multi-stakeholder negotiations (C-suite, Finance, Legal) to structure and finalize complex 7-8 figure deals
  • Deepening existing relationships within UK and Nordic accounts to expand robot deployments and generate significant new revenue streams
  • Defining the regional business case and partnering with Public Affairs and Operations to ensure market-specific regulatory alignment and operational readiness
  • Maintaining disciplined pipeline forecasting and sales reporting in Salesforce while consistently achieving or exceeding quarterly and annual sales targets

Team Leadership & Strategic Coordination (30% Focus)

  • Leading a team of 3 European Sales Managers, providing hands-on coaching and strategic direction
  • Coordinating weekly pipeline reviews, deal strategy sessions, and forecast aggregation across the entire European Sales organization
  • Building and refining the European Grocery Sales Playbook by synthesizing market learnings, facilitating knowledge sharing, and implementing best practices
  • Partnering with Marketing, Public Affairs, and Customer Success to coordinate European campaigns, regulatory strategy, and customer expansion opportunities

What's in it for you?

  • Opportunity to work on industry-leading self-driving delivery robot technology on a uniquely large scale, creating history and making things happen
  • You can immerse yourself in the world of technology and innovation
  • You will have a chance to work with people with a strong inner burning and motivation. We are self-aware and seek feedback and improvement. We don't want to wait until we are told what needs to be done but take it as a matter of pride to figure out solutions for topics in various teams and areas
  • You'll have endless opportunities to learn from our inspirational, talented team members across the globe

What we hope you'll bring to the table:

  • 7+ years of B2B sales experience selling complex technology, SaaS platforms, or 3PL solutions to large, enterprise clients
  • A successful history of selling directly to grocery retailers, quick commerce platforms, or large delivery apps (Deliveroo, Uber Eats, Getir, etc.) in a B2B capacity
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently close 7-8 figure deals with long sales cycles months).
  • Expertise in enterprise sales frameworks (MEDDPICC or similar) and a proven ability to accurately qualify, progress, and forecast complex deals in Salesforce or a similar CRM
  • Proven ability to manage and influence multi-stakeholder procurement processes involving C-suite, Innovation, Operations, Finance, and Legal teams
  • Deep working knowledge of the UK and/or at least one of the Nordic markets (Sweden, Norway, Denmark)
  • A track record of coaching, mentoring, or managing sales professionals, with the ability to lead through influence and provide direct, actionable feedback
  • Exceptional communication skills and executive presence - you can command a room with C-suite buyers and internal stakeholders with equal confidence
  • A self-starter attitude with a high tolerance for ambiguity and the hunger to build something from the ground up in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel across the UK, Nordics, and Europe approximately 20% of the time

Beneficial:

  • Existing relationships with decision-makers at major grocery retailers or delivery platforms in Northern Europe
  • Fluency in a Nordic language (Swedish, Danish, or Norwegian)
