Position: Business Unit Director

Location: London (hybrid – 3/4 days in London office)

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £80k+ (dependent on experience)

Business Unit Director (BUD):

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Leads the development and delivery of healthcare advertising initiatives, crafting meticulous tactical plans that align timelines and budgets with ambitious goals
  • Takes a panoramic view of client accounts, offering proactive advice on emerging trends and external dynamics. Contributes to strategic planning sessions, aligning efforts with client visions
  • Collaborates seamlessly with Client Services, Creative, and Strategy Directors to craft transformative long-term strategies that set clients apart in their industries
  • Serves as the guardian of bold ideas, fostering a culture that celebrates innovation and embraces non-traditional approaches. Elevates the standards for ideation, presentations, research, and team synergy
  • Keeps lines of communication open, ensuring client satisfaction and addressing challenges before they escalate. Builds enduring partnerships that go beyond business as usual
  • Establishes trust and rapport with clients, from senior executives to procurement leaders, offering strategic counsel and spotting challenges before they arise. Networks extensively to understand client ecosystems and decision-making pathways
  • Leverages trusted client relationships to advocate for strategic, business-savvy risks while ensuring clear and actionable scopes of work across all projects
  • Continuously tracks industry trends and evolving client needs, drawing on insights from thought leaders and internal experts to refine strategies and deliver exceptional client service
  • Quickly masters complex therapy areas, inspiring client confidence and ensuring solutions are always relevant and impactful
  • Energises new business efforts by identifying opportunities, rekindling relationships with past clients, and playing a pivotal role in pitch meetings and revenue generation initiatives.
  • Delivers financial clarity by managing budgets with precision to drive profitability
  • Leads with passion, motivating teams to excel while cultivating a culture of collaboration and growth. Provides thoughtful guidance, from hands-on training to meaningful performance appraisals, empowering team members to shine

Requirements:

  • Degree (science, preferably life science)
  • High level of drive, motivation, and initiative
  • Ability to motivate, lead by example, train, mentor, develop and share best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Expert presentation skills
  • Ability to problem-solve effectively and make decisions
  • Awareness of industry guidelines and best practice and their application
  • Several years' experience as a Group Account Director (or similar) in a healthcare advertising agency
