Overview

Hours are Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm / 48 weeks per year.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to support the daily operations of our nursery. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a background in early childhood education or nursery experience. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a nurturing environment, contributing to the development and well-being of children while leading a team of childcare professionals. Applicants should demonstrate excellent communication skills in English.

Duties

  • Assist the Manager in overseeing the smooth running of the nursery or Nursery by being primarily floor based
  • Support staff in delivering high-quality childcare and early childhood education programmes
  • Supervise daily activities, ensuring safety and engagement for all children
  • Lead and motivate team members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies regarding children's progress and wellbeing
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and policies
  • Manage administrative tasks such as record keeping, planning activities, and maintaining a clean, safe environment
  • Step into the Manager's role in their absence, making decisions to ensure operational continuity

Qualifications

  • Proven management and leadership experience within a childcare setting or nursery environment
  • Strong understanding of early childhood education principles and child development
  • Experience working with children, ideally within nursery or preschool settings
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Childcare qualifications recognised by relevant authorities (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Childcare) or equivalent
  • Valid driving licence is desirable to facilitate transportation duties if required
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team whilst demonstrating initiative and organisational skills

Pay: £24,641.68-£26,728.00 per year
