The Neurosurgery Unit is looking for a dynamic, caring, reliable and motivated Senior Nurse who is committed to providing careful discharge for patient with complex neurological needs. The senior nurse must be able to work cohesively within the multidisciplinary team, referring to ongoing care providers, organise MDT meetings and have confidence to navigate difficult conversations with patients and their families.

The Neuroscience floor consists of 25 Neurosurgical beds 6 of which are within the close observation unit and 10 Neurology beds covering the North East of Scotland, Orkney & Shetland. The Discharge coordinator must also be able to help the NIC by assisting the coordinator admissions and discharge of patient from hospitals that feed into the Neuro speciality and onwards to further specialist care in Edinburgh or Glasgow. The area can be stressful and very busy at times therefore applicants must have the ability to remain calm under pressure, the ability to use their initiative and make decisions.

It is an area with great job satisfaction allowing the nurse to make a difference within a patients' journey. The candidate will be supported to develop their educational needs and help the unit achieve National Benchmarks within Neurosurgical Nursing.
