Bloxham School is seeking an inspiring and talented Visiting Music Teacher (Singing) to join our vibrant and ambitious Music Department for a maternity cover of up to one year. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate vocal coach to nurture and develop young singers within a thriving musical community.

About the role:

As a Visiting Music Teacher – Singing, you will:

  • Provide high-quality one-to-one singing lessons for pupils of all ages and abilities, from beginners to advanced performers.
  • Prepare students for graded exams, concerts, recitals, and other school performances.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Music and wider team to promote vocal excellence across the school.
  • Contribute to the musical life of the school, encouraging pupils to participate in choirs, ensembles, and musical productions.
  • Provide feedback and progress reports in line with school policies, helping each student reach their potential.
  • Lead or support masterclasses and workshops as required.

About the Department:

The Music Department at Bloxham School has a rich and inclusive musical culture, offering over 200 lessons weekly delivered by a dedicated team of 20 visiting music specialists. The department runs an extensive programme of concerts and events – from the House Music Competition and Gala Concerts to Jazz Nights and Cathedral performances.

Our choirs and ensembles regularly perform major works and collaborate with professional musicians, creating a lively and rewarding musical environment for both students and staff.

About You:

We're looking for an enthusiastic and versatile singing teacher who can motivate, challenge, and inspire pupils across all levels.

Essential:

  • A degree in Music or a related subject.
  • Experience teaching singing to a wide range of ages and abilities.
  • Proven success in preparing students for graded exams and performances.
  • Proven success in coaching ensembles and choirs.
  • Knowledge of classical music and musical theatre.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualification in Music.
  • Experience leading ensembles, choirs, or vocal masterclasses.
