Role Purpose 

Working as a business partner to the UK Country Manager and UK Team Leads, and leading the UK finance team - take responsibility for providing high quality, efficient, proactive and innovative financial support to Global Maritime's UK entity. The role is also responsible for interfacing on financial matters with Global Maritime's Group functions and supports the development and implementation of best practice and Group policies across the organisation.

In addition to the UK responsibilities, an element of the role is to work as part of the Group finance team with responsibility to the Group Finance Controller for running the consolidation and reporting on behalf of the GM Group. 

Duties and Responsibilities for the UK
Work as a financial business partner to the UK Country Manager and UK Team Leads providing integrated financial support

  • Manage the UK Finance team providing finance and accounting leadership and oversight with the aim of developing a competent, effective and motivated team that meets the needs of the business
  • Ensure that the day-to-day financial operations including both accounting and controlling functions are in line with Group policies and best-practice
  • Define and implement short- and long-term finance goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures in line with Group Finance objectives.
  • Responsible for the Net Working Capital reporting and follow-up with the UK Country Manager
  • Oversee and contribute to the day-to-day accounting functions, forecasting and budgeting
  • Overall responsible for the annual audit process in the UK and ensure that it is conducted in line with the Group timelines and best practice
  • Oversee the production, review and presentation of financial data and monthly management reporting for the UK and provide value added analysis to support operations & management
  • Key contact person for outside service providers for tax preparation, auditing, banking and other financial needs as necessary
  • Participate in new business tenders and assist in the development and negotiation of contract terms  to ensure the commerciality of new tenders including invoice milestones, assessing credit risk and other contractual risk
  • Internal control and review of balance reconciliations in FloQast for the UK
  • Analyse performance of projects, business streams & sub-business streams in order to track the financial status & performance and to identify areas of improvement for the UK
  • Provide support to the CFO, Group Finance team and other financial controllers globally
  • Coordinate and contribute to responses to Group reporting requests & provide analytical support to understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation in the UK.

Duties and Responsibilities for GM Group – Responsible to the Group Finance Controller

  • Internal reporting, including consolidated monthly management accounts, and ad hoc reporting to the business with the ability to refresh and develop reporting to ensure it remains insightful and fit for purpose
  • External reporting, including drafting of board packs and management of reporting to lenders, investors and other key external stakeholders.

Specific Skills, Knowledge and Experience required

  • Qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA (or equivalent)
  • Extensive experience (preferably from the big five audit firms)
  • Understanding the importance of clear audit trails and good financial skills as required to help sustain and grow the business.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience with Oracle Netsuite is a big plus
  • Right to live and work in the United Kingdom.
