About the role:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated MIS Manager to lead our Management Information Systems team at Askham Bryan College. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and strategic use of college data to support funding, planning, and performance improvement across all curriculum and support areas.
You will oversee the delivery of timely and accurate data returns, manage funding allocations and audits, and lead the development of reports and dashboards that inform key decisions. Working closely with senior leaders, curriculum heads, and finance teams, you will play a vital role in helping the college maximise funding opportunities and maintain a culture of data integrity and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead and manage the MIS team, ensuring a high-performing, service-focused culture.
· Oversee funding claims, allocations, and reconciliation processes, ensuring compliance with DfE, OfS, and devolved authorities.
· Manage data collections, ILR/HESES returns, and audit preparation to ensure full compliance and accuracy.
· Develop and maintain dashboards and management reports using tools such as Power BI, ProSuite, and 4Cast.
· Support curriculum and business planning processes through accurate funding and performance analysis.
· Ensure GDPR compliance and robust data governance across all systems.
· Collaborate with internal teams and represent the college at external networks and user groups.
About You:
You will be an experienced MIS professional with a deep understanding of Further and Higher Education funding methodologies, audit processes, and the critical role that data plays in institutional success. You'll combine technical ability with strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Essential Skills and Experience:
· Proven experience of managing or working within an MIS team in an FE or HE setting.
· Strong understanding of funding rules, ILR processes, and data compliance.
· Proficiency in reporting and analytics tools (e.g. Power BI, SQL, SSRS, ProSuite).
· Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
Desirable:
· Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in IT, Data, or MIS management.
· Experience with devolved funding arrangements and OfS data returns.
