Newcastle upon Tyne, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle Full time £30,000 - £31,855 per year

ADMINISTRATOR - DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES

IRREGULAR HOURS LASTING IMPACT

Salary Scale from £30,000 to £31,855 FTE

| Integrity | Trust | Service | Compassion | Respect |

The Lourdes Pilgrimage is a long-established tradition within the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle dating back to 1926 and as such 2026 marks our centenary year.

Supporting Father Shaun Purdy, our Lourdes Pilgrimage Director, we are looking for our first permanent Lourdes Administrator and as such the successful applicant will play a pivotal role in setting the standard and enabling us to support the delivery of a high-quality pilgrimage.

Importantly you will be a consummate administrative professional who handles sensitive information with the utmost discretion and confidentiality and who is thoughtful, compassionate and understanding. However, this is no ordinary Monday to Friday administrative role requiring the person who joins us to be comfortable working irregular hours since no two days or weeks will be the same and you will be required to undertake overseas travel to France.

We are looking for our Administrator to:

Have a basic knowledge and understanding of French as this would help us to effectively communicate and translate both written and spoken French.

Be available for 500 hours and between 75 to 80 days per year, evenings and weekends.

Support the Director of Lourdes and the President of Hospitalité.

Establish and maintain records, dealing with enquiries and liaising with Lourdes Core Group and Curia Core Teams including but not limited to Fomation and Mission, Safeguarding, HR, Finance and Health and Safety.

Liaise with the relevant tour operator to ensure all travel plans are coordinated, factual, and kept up to date.

Be the conduit for communication with the Lourdes Pilgrimage Core Group.

Ensure there is a seamless service between the Diocese and the Director of the Lourdes Pilgrimage and the President of Hospitalité.

Provide a first class administrative service.

Be engaging, proactive and articulate. Analytical, efficient, logical and systematic. Planned and organised.

A first class people person you will readily build relationships, have excellent communication skills and you will be the kind of person who is outgoing, friendly and welcoming. With a can do, will do attitude you can be described as positive and proactive.

What can you expect from us? A truly inclusive culture where our Values of Integrity, Trust, Respect, Compassion and Service form our foundations from which all other things transcend and as such you will be supportive of and sympathetic to our ethos and the Catholic faith.

If you are interested in being at the forefront of developing this new administrative role please get in touch with us to request an Applicant Pack by emailing Annie Leaver Head of Human Resources at

Please note the Diocese cannot accept CV's and as such to be considered for the position you must contact us direct as noted above and then complete our Diocesan Application Form which is only available as part of the Applicant Pack.

Finally, the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle is proud to be an equal opportunities employer, welcoming applications from individuals of all backgrounds, including those who identify as neurodivergent. We are committed to creating a workplace where diversity of thought and experience is respected and valued.
