Location

: The post holder will be based at our Head Office on Beverley Road,  but will be required to travel to other sites in the Hull area.

Salary:

£50,000 per annum

Hours:

37 hours per week. Hours will be worked Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. 

Reports to:

Registered Manager/ Head of Care Services  

Overall job purpose

The Clinical Lead will play a central role in ensuring that staff at Wellington Care and Hull and East Yorkshire Mind are given leadership, guidance and support to ensure that all services are safe, effective and psychologically informed.  You will bring clinical expertise to enhance staff capability, improve outcomes for clients, and ensure that our approach remains trauma-informed, person-centred, and recovery-focused.

Key responsibilities

Clinical leadership and service development

Wellington Care

  • Provide psychological insight and clinical leadership, supporting staff to deliver high-quality, outcome-focused support.
  • Draw on a broad understanding of psychological therapies and perspectives to guide the development of trauma-informed psychological approaches and interventions that are sensitive to the needs and experiences of service users.
  • Offer advice and guidance on complex cases, risk management, and strategies for supporting clients with unmet needs.

Hull and East Yorkshire Mind

Support crisis services (Support Line, Crisis Pad, Children's Safe Space and Police Hub) by:

  • Assisting staff with call scripting and structured responses.
  • Offering clinical guidance on working with frequent users of services, with the aim of reducing repeat reliance.
  • Supporting staff to de-escalate challenging situations safely and effectively.
  • Contribute to service development by identifying gaps, shaping practice, and embedding psychologically informed approaches across Hull and East Yorkshire Mind's services.

Services Development

  • Contribute to service development by identifying gaps, shaping practice and embedding psychologically informed approaches.
  • Support the development of internal policies, processes and practice guidance to ensure consistency and quality
  • Assist staff in applying psychological thinking to their work with clients while recognising that formal psychological formulations remain the responsibility of statutory mental health services.

Supervision and reflective practice

  • Provide group reflective practice sessions for staff across all services.
  • Deliver a level of clinical supervision to staff members, supporting safe and effective practice.
  • Create a supportive learning environment where staff feel confident to share challenges and explore new approaches.

Collaboration, Meetings and Influence

  • Attend and contribute to Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, VARMS (Vulnerable Adult Risk Management Strategy) meetings, and other external case management forums as required.
  • Work closely with service managers, team leaders and external partners to ensure continuity and consistency of care.
  • Act as a clinical resource for the wider Hull and East Yorkshire Mind team, sharing expertise and promoting best practice.
  • Contribute to external networks and meetings to strengthen Hull and East Yorkshire Mind's position as a trusted provider of mental health support.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure clinical practice within services meets professional, ethical and organisational standards.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of clinical activity in line with GDPR and internal policies.
  • Support service monitoring, evaluation and reporting requirements.

Client Work

  • Hold a small caseload of clients to maintain clinical practice and professional registration requirements
  • Ensure this work is balanced alongside core responsibilities of clinical leadership, supervision and staff support.
