Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled MOT Tester to join our small team at a local independent garage. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections and tests on vehicles to ensure they meet safety and environmental standards. This role requires a strong mechanical knowledge, as well as proficiency in using hand and power tools. The MOT Tester will play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and reliability of vehicles on the road.

Duties

  • Conduct MOT tests in accordance with legal requirements and company standards.
  • Inspect vehicles for compliance with safety regulations, including brakes, lights, steering, and emissions.
  • Use hand tools and power tools to perform necessary repairs or adjustments.
  • Document test results accurately and provide feedback to vehicle owners.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring all equipment is in good working condition.
  • Assist with heavy lifting of vehicle components when necessary.
  • Stay updated on changes to MOT regulations and best practices in vehicle testing.

Requirements

  • Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in vehicle maintenance or repair.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting as required during inspections and repairs.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications for conducting MOT tests are preferred.
