Gentlemec Motor Services Ltd is a long-established, trusted local garage with a reputation for honest advice, quality workmanship, and friendly service.

Following the recent acquisition of another local garage, we're expanding our team and looking for an experienced Vehicle Mechanic to join our busy workshop on Castle Lane West, Bournemouth.

We're an old-school workshop hands-on, skilled, and straightforward fully equipped with everything needed to maintain and repair modern vehicles.

The Role

Working along side the workshop controller, you'll be responsible for servicing, repairing, and diagnosing a variety of vehicles in a practical, traditional workshop environment. This is a 4-day working week role, giving you a great work-life balance while being part of a close-knit, professional team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on all makes and models
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults using modern tools
  • Work efficiently, maintaining high standards of quality and safety
  • Be comfortable working in a pit as part of daily operations

About You

We're looking for a reliable, skilled, and self-motivated mechanic who enjoys hands-on work and takes pride in doing things properly with the ability to work independently as well as with others

Essential Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
  • Proven experience as a vehicle mechanic or technician
  • Confident working in a pit
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills

Desirable:

  • MOT Tester qualification (Class 4)
  • Experience with hybrid and electric vehicles
  • Own tools, however the workshop is fully equipped with shared tools
