Senior Account Director – London Based Public Affairs Agency

£60,000 - £65,000 p/a

About the Role

A creative, growing communications and public affairs agency working with a variety of purpose-driven organisations is seeking an experienced
Senior Account Director
to lead client accounts across public affairs and campaigning. The role involves designing and delivering impactful strategies for clients driving social or environmental change.

The successful candidate will have a strong grounding in public affairs, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for helping organisations communicate purposefully and effectively.

This role would suit an ambitious Account Director looking to take the next step in their career and make a big impact in an agency they can grow alongside.

About the Agency

This is a fast-growing, independent agency specialising in public affairs and communications, largely for purpose-led clients — including charities, NGOs, and responsible businesses.

The current structure is approaching twenty with a deep level of communications and public affairs experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue opportunities for account growth and new business.
  • Lead public affairs and campaigns strategies for a varied portfolio of clients.
  • Manage and grow client relationships, ensuring strong communication and delivery of impactful results.
  • Bring together politicians, policymakers, and stakeholders to advance client objectives.
  • Oversee account teams, mentoring colleagues and ensuring consistent progress across multiple projects.
  • Develop and implement campaign plans, overseeing delivery from strategy to execution.
  • Lead media engagement where appropriate, shaping narratives and securing visibility.
  • Produce regular reports, updates, and strategic recommendations for clients.
  • Support the professional development of team members, acting as a sounding board for ideas and strategic thinking.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong agency experience in
    public affairs
    or related communications work.
  • A track record of winning and growing accounts.
  • Strong connections in parliament and Whitehall with both politicians and officials.
  • A proven track record of running successful campaigns and/or achieving government policy change in response to client's needs.
  • Exceptional client-handling skills and proven leadership experience.
  • Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple accounts and competing deadlines.
