Overview:

TRC's UK business was established with the opening of a London office in 2012, followed by expansion into Bristol, Glasgow and Manchester. The UK team focuses on the provision of TRC's core environmental consulting services to property, corporate and private equity clients. Our services are solutions driven and include advice on environmental due diligence and transaction support; contaminated land investigation and remediation; geotechnical investigation; environmental planning and permitting solutions; EHS management and compliance; and energy use reporting and reduction.

To support our continued growth, we are looking to appoint a Geo-environmental Consultant to support the delivery of project assignments.

The ideal candidate will be an early careers professional with experience in desk-based assessments and site investigations. They should hold a full UK driving license and be willing and able to travel throughout the UK for project assignments. There may also be options for overseas travel to support on our clients' projects globally.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of site investigations including:
  • Oversight of drilling contractors performing works using various drilling techniques – windowless sampler, Cable Percussive, rotary, sonic and Cone Penetration Testing.
  • Oversight of contractors performing trial pitting including machine and hand excavated pits.
  • Logging to British Standards / Eurocode and preparation of environmental and geotechnical logging records in Open Ground;
  • Performing field testing using methods such and hand penetrometer, handheld Dynamic Cone Penetrometer and environmental screening using Photoionization Detector.
  • Sampling of soils for environmental and geotechnical laboratory analysis.
  • Groundwater monitoring using dip meter, interface probe.
  • Groundwater sampling using disposal bailers and low flow methodologies.
  • Ground gas and soil vapor monitoring using gas analyzer and PID.
  • Preparing desk study reports and conducting site walkovers for Tier 1 reports and due diligence purposes.
  • Preparing Tier 2 reports including factual reporting on site investigation works, data screening, preliminary risk assessment.

Qualifications:

  • BSc or higher (preferably post-graduate qualification, such as MSc) in geology, geo-environmental or geotechnical engineering type discipline
  • Understanding of relevant contaminated land guidance (LCRM), NHBC, CIRIA, Eurocode and British Standards
  • Excellent organization, communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a project team with excellent problem solving and writing skills
  • Experience using geographical information systems (GIS) is desirable
  • Must possess a UK driving license and valid passport and be willing to travel within the UK and, occasionally, overseas

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of geotechnical software packages such as Slide, PDisp, XDisp, Settle3D, Roc lab, Open ground, FEM software packages or similar

Location can be Bristol, London or Manchester. Regardless of location, travel both to client sites and TRC offices will be necessary.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
