Footsteps Care is seeking a compassionate, organized, and experienced Senior Support Worker to join our dedicated team. This role is pivotal in ensuring a safe, supportive, and homely environment for the young people in our care. As a shift leader, you will guide and support staff, promote best practices, and maintain the highest standards of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of staff, delegating duties to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
- Serve as a positive role model for both staff and young people.
- Establish clear, consistent boundaries and support young people in understanding and following them.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant children's legislation and Ofsted guidelines.
- Attend and actively contribute to staff and senior team meetings.
- Support and attend young people's reviews when required.
- Communicate professionally with external agencies and regulatory bodies.
- Complete clear, accurate documentation and reports, including monthly key worker reports.
- Administer medication in accordance with company policies.
- Follow proper procedures for handling disclosures, incidents, or concerns (e.g., whistleblowing, accidents).
- Engage in regular supervision and contribute to your own development.
- Provide supervision to Residential Support Workers as needed.
- Support and guide new staff through their induction process.
- Ensure completion of all logs and records, including menus, behaviour charts, handovers, etc.
- Participate in the on-call rota as required.
- Foster effective team collaboration and communication.
- Uphold health and safety standards in line with current legislation and organizational policies.

Requirements
- Previous experience in a residential care setting (essential)
- Previous experience in a senior support worker role (essential)
- Knowledge of children's residential legislation and safeguarding
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills
- Excellent communication and report writing skills
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and on-call
- Commitment to continuous professional development
You will be qualified to or willing to work towards your NVQ3 in care. You will also require an enhanced DBS. The cost of this will be met by the employer.
