Events and Office Coordinator

The Economic Statistics Centre of Excellence (ESCoE) is the first-ever dedicated academic centre of expertise for the analysis of emerging and future issues in measuring the modern economy in the UK and one of just a few around the world. Funded by the Office for National Statistics the Centre is hosted at King's Business School, King's College London, and is delivered in close collaboration with its many partner institutions across the UK and internationally.
About the role
We are looking to appoint an Events and Office Coordinator to provide support to the Centre Directors in relation to all the main areas of the Centre's work. Primary responsibilities will be to manage and deliver the ESCoE events programme including conferences, workshops and webinars. Events are delivered in-person, online and hybrid. The programme includes an international 3 day annual conference hosted at King's or one of our partner institutions. This will include managing the full lifecycle of the conference including the call for papers, registrations, speaker liaison and event budgeting.
The successful candidate will also act as Editorial Assistant for the ESCoE publication series managing and administering the receipt, review and online publications process. They will provide day-to-day administrative support for the centre activities, including meeting scheduling and committee support, travel arrangements, procurement activities and minor financial administrative support. They will oversee the ESCoE email accounts, manage our contact lists and instigate and maintain accurate and effective administrative systems. They are also responsible for supporting our visitors, affiliates and PhD students.
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, organisational and time management skills and be able to work accurately under pressure. They will be happy to work independently, while also being a key team member.
The candidate will work closely with the other members of the ESCoE operations team and will report to the Operations Director.
ESCoE are housed in the King's Business School Research Hub and work closely with the professional services teams from the other centres.
The successful candidate will be a member of the Building Users Group and be expected to become the centre's designated first aider.
This is a hybrid role with the expectation that the candidate will work a minimum of two days in the office and will be expected to be flexible and attend all events in person when required. We would like the candidate to be able to start in January 2026.
This is a full time role (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 28 March 2028.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1. Experience of managing in-person, online and hybrid events of an academic nature.
2. Experience of working in an administrative role with strong organisational, prioritisation and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
3. Strong people and communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to liaise effectively with all levels of staff, event attendees and stakeholders.
4. Ability to work under pressure and think on your feet combined with practical problem-solving skills.
5. Ability to work independently with limited guidance and as part of a small team.
6. Sound knowledge of Teams, sharepoint, Microsoft Office and platforms such as Mailchimp and Eventbrite. Confident in using and dealing with AV.
Desirable criteria
1. Experience in delivering academic events, including international conferences.
2. Numerate with budget management experience.
3. Experience of working in a further education environment.
