Job Title: Production Baker Apprentice
Based at: 71-73 Allen Road, London N16 8RY
Reports to: Head Baker
Hours: up to 16 hours per week
Salary: £12.21 per hour
Duration: 6 months
Start: November 2025
End: April 2026

Job Purpose: To learn and assist with bakery production, to a consistently excellent standard, and fulfil any appropriate roles the Head or Senior Baker assigns. The baker will use a range of methods and skills required to produce our core products based on their training.
Responsibilities:
Baking and Decorating:
- Learn to bake and decorate products to a high standard, following recipes and instructions from the Baking Team
Health & Safety:
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, ensuring health and safety guidelines are always followed.
Preparation Work:
- Assist with measuring, mixing, and preparing ingredients for baking.
- Label ingredients and preparations correctly.
Packaging:
- Package products neatly and accurately when requested
Stock Management:
- Inform the Senior Baker when ingredients or preparations are running low.
Cleaning & Organisation:
- Help keep the kitchen clean and tidy, including washing up, cleaning at the end of shifts, and storing deliveries properly.
Team Support:
- Work collaboratively with the team to meet production targets and deadlines.
- Assist with additional tasks as needed, such as unpacking deliveries or performing checks.
All staff employed, regardless of whether they handle food, are required to comply with some or all of the requirements of this policy. This is so that food hygiene standards can be met and to prevent the spread of harmful bacteria. The introduction and spread of bacteria can be caused by passing through an area used by persons who handle food; to ensure this is controlled to an acceptable level the following actions are required:
- To report to their line manager any food poisoning symptoms (diarrhoea, vomiting) or any septic cuts or other infectious conditions. Any employee who has food poisoning symptoms should visit their doctor and explain that they are a food handler.
- All new employees are to complete a Health Questionnaire on their first day before commencing work.
- To inspect all food delivered to the premises and reject any items that do not comply with the standards detailed in the Food Safety Policy.
- To control food stocks to ensure that food is used in strict rotation and that no out of date food is in stock.
- To ensure that food is stored, handled, prepared, cooked and served in accordance with the Food Safety Policy and HACCP.
- To maintain good standards of personal hygiene meeting the requirements of the personal hygiene section of this policy.
- To report any equipment or structural defects to the Manager.
- To help regularly inspect the food storage areas for evidence of any pest infestations and report any evidence to the Manager.
- To report any cases of customer dissatisfaction to the Manager.
- To report any practices or conditions which present a food safety risk (e.g., food poisoning) to the Manager.
