Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to individuals in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private residences. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality of life for our clients, particularly those requiring specialised care such as Alzheimer's and dementia support. The Support Worker will assist with daily activities, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.

Duties

  • Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Support clients with meal preparation and dietary needs, ensuring nutritional requirements are met.
  • Assist with medication administration as per care plans and monitor clients for any changes in health status.
  • Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to support clients with challenging behaviours.
  • Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any concerns to senior staff members.
  • Assist with mobility needs, including heavy lifting when necessary, to ensure client safety.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of clients.
  • Drive clients to appointments or social activities as required.

Experience

  • Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or similar environments is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Alzheimer's care, dementia care, hospice care, and senior care practices is beneficial.
  • A background in nursing or caregiving is an advantage but not essential.
  • Knowledge of first aid procedures is preferred.
  • Experience in childcare may be considered relevant for certain roles within family settings.
