Hand Picked Hotels was founded in 2001 by owner and Chairman, Julia Hands MBE. We are currently recruiting for a Leisure Club Assistant at New Hall Hotel & Spa, part of Hand Picked Hotels.
New Hotel and Spa is a stunning and unique hotel, dating back to the 13th Century and steeped in history and a fine example of medieval architecture and stands proudly as England's oldest listed inhabited moated house.
At 800 years old, this luxurious hotel has a long history of delivering exceptional hospitality to discerning guests. Replete with contemporary comforts, our spa and health club offers an oasis of relaxation complimented by our award winning 2AA Rosette restaurant and extensive meetings and events operation, which a popular choice for weddings, bespoke events and conferences.
About the Role
- As a Leisure Club Assistant your role will involve a combination of duties, from operational desk shifts, delivering gym programs and inductions, providing proactive gym floor cover, advising and assisting members, to running group fitness classes and personal training sessions.
- You will help support the success of your team, feeling engaged and ready to deliver consistently exceptional service, putting the guest at the heart of all activities.
- Be capable of demonstrating that you can deliver outstanding training sessions, motivating others whist bringing positivity to people's health and wellbeing goals.
- Mindfulness and well-being is your top priority, so you will be passionate about maintaining high standards and delivering memorable guest experiences to ensure that all clients leave feeling on top of the world and with a clear mind.
- You will be responsible for the orientation and implementation of ongoing programmes of promotional and motivational events aimed at sustaining high levels of member retention.
- You will manage the day to day operations of the pool and spa plant and heat experiences, ensuring everything is in good working order and addressing any operational risks.
- Most of all we will want you to be inspired, have fun and enjoy being part of our Hand Picked Team.
About you:
- NVQ Level 2 Fitness Instructor / Personal Trainer qualifications is essential for this role, level 3 personal training qualifications is desirable.
- Ideally you will have qualifications in pool testing and/or pool plant, however this is desirable and full training can be provided.
- You will need to be confident in water as our Leisure Club Assistants also act as our pool responders and first aiders.
- You'll enjoy motivating others and feel confident acting as an expert to give suitable advice on health and fitness that will match people's individual goals and aspirations.
- Being driven to deliver outstanding and memorable customer service will be your passion and motivation.
- Be able to demonstrate a high level of emotional intelligence, enabling you to be able to anticipate our guests needs ensuring they receive a Hand Picked experience.
- Most of all, you will have a professional, organised and friendly approach and be able to anticipate our guests needs and create memories.

- A competitive hourly rate of £13.00 with incremental pay reviews based on recognition of commitment and performance, plus a share of service charge.
- This is a Full-Time role working 5 days out of 7 including weekends on a rota basis, 40 hours per week, which may vary depending on business needs and will include working weekends. You will need to be flexible on working days & hours (predominantly an early or late shift)
