Data is at the heart of everything we do, and our ambition is to enrich every customer experience and optimise every business decision through a transformative Data Strategy centered on operating model, data & analytics platform, and data culture.About the Data Science teamThe team drives incremental value across claims, operations, underwriting, and marketing. We own end‑to‑end models that power a best‑in‑class customer experience from acquisition to claims.Role and responsibilitiesLead the strategy and roadmap for data science and ML initiatives to support ambitious growth plans.Recruit, lead, and mentor the Data Science team while building a community of practice.Work closely with the Head of Data Products and other stakeholders to identify opportunities to apply ML and data science across the organisation.Develop and own a roadmap for implementing Data Science across our business areas.Continuously improve engineering practices for data science products to operate at pace and at scale.Champion data science and ML, communicating its value to colleagues across the business.Oversee and contribute to the development of machine learning models, working with ML Engineers to ensure production reliability.Collaborate with Data Engineers and Analysts to source required data from internal systems and third‑party suppliers.What we are looking forCustomer‑focused with the ability to balance outcome delivery and technical excellence.Experience leading and managing Data Scientists, with hands‑on work in a small team.Strategic thinker who finds innovative ways to apply data science for business value.Excellent communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.Proficiency with R or Python, SQL, and experience querying large datasets.Knowledge of the latest data science and ML technologies.Experience building ML models and working with ML Engineers to deploy them into production.Experience with AWS or GCP tools is ideal.Knowledge of the insurance industry is an advantage but not essential.BenefitsRole based in the London office with 50/50 hybrid working.Generous pension contribution scheme.Private medical and dental cover.Learning budget of £1,000 per year plus study leave.Enhanced maternity and paternity leave.Travel season ticket loan.Access to a wide selection of London O2 events and a private lounge.Employee wellbeing programme.Equal OpportunityWe pride ourselves on being an equal‑opportunity employer.
