We are looking to hire Centre Managers and Assistant Centre Managers for our summer school campuses in Portsmouth and Salford (Manchester) in 2026. The pay is between £1,149 and £1,209 per week. We have year‑round adult schools in Manchester and Liverpool, with a dedicated groups campus in Cheshire and summer schools in Salford (Manchester) and Portsmouth.About the Junior Summer SchoolThe NCG Junior Summer School is for international students aged 12‑17. We run residential programmes at the University of Salford and University of Portsmouth. Our dedicated programmes help young learners to develop their English language skills while providing them with an unforgettable experience abroad, packed full of exciting social activities and countless opportunities to make friends with like‑minded people from across the globe.The RoleThe Centre Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the summer school (except for the academic programme delivery, which is the responsibility of the Director of Studies).Line‑managing and supporting a team of sports & activities leadersLine‑managing the Welfare Officer(s)Holding daily briefings with staffLiaising with Head Office and enacting the planned activities programme schedule & excursionsBeing the point of contact for agents and group leaders vis‑à‑vis complaints and queries regarding the activities programmeManaging facilities and resources at the siteThe Activities ProgrammeThe activities programme runs from 09:00 to 22:00 every day of the week. We offer a range of activities to meet the interests of international teenagers. The activities programme is coordinated by the Centre Manager, who line‑manages the Sports & Activities Leaders. Mostly, activities are held on site at the university campuses, but there are also off‑site activities (such as bowling and adventure golf), as well as excursions to local sites of interest and other cities. The Centre Manager is directly responsible for implementing the activities programme, which is designed and communicated to them by Head Office.Arts & Crafts: Clay modelling, Jewellery making, Mosaic tile‑coasters, Rock painting, Tie‑dye T‑shirtsLocal Excursions: Libraries, Galleries, Museums, Beaches & parksGames & Events: Baking, Karaoke, Discos, Card games, Board games, Bingo, Quizzes, Dance, YogaConditions of EmploymentCentre Managers are contracted to work for 48 hours per week. In any one week this may work out to be a little fewer or greater than 48 hours, but it should average out to be this amount. Any extra hours will be paid as overtime at the end of the contract.Centre Managers are assisted by an Assistant Centre Manager, who works in opposing shifts to the Centre Manager and assumes their authority as team line manager in the Centre Manager’s absence.The Centre Manager reports directly to the Head of Junior Summer Schools and Groups, in Head Office.About SalfordThe Salford campus is at the University of Salford, and the programme runs for 6 weeks. Half‑day excursions visit places like the Manchester Museum and John Rylands Library, and Saturday excursions include Liverpool, York and Chester. The University of Salford is a self‑contained campus on the outskirts of Manchester; it is the larger of the two summer schools with a busy and varied activities programme.About PortsmouthThe Portsmouth campus is at the University of Portsmouth, and the programme runs for 4 weeks. Half‑day excursions go to Portsmouth city centre, and include venues such as the Spinnaker Tower and Southsea Castle. The University of Portsmouth is a city campus, meaning that it is in the city centre with staff and students being ‘out and about’ in the city every day.Our Commitment to SafeguardingNew College Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and all staff are expected to share this commitment.
