People Services Advisor Job Title: HR Advisor Department: People Services (HR) Campus: Cross Campus Salary: Grade 5 Spine Point 20 - £34,664.67 Contract Type: Permanent About the Role: HSDC is seeking a proactive and collaborative HR Advisor to join our team. This role is known locally within the college as a People Services Business Partner. The role is offered on a full‑time, permanent basis, though we are open to considering part‑time working across four days per week. It is key to delivering consistent and reliable HR support across the College, ensuring the effective application of employment law, policies, best practice in day‑to‑day employee matters with a key focus on employee relations. The role will be principally based at our Havant campus, with travel as required to our other campuses, and offers flexibility to work from home one day per week. As a HR Advisor, you will work closely with managers across designated business areas to provide high‑quality advice and support on a wide range of people issues, including employee relations, performance management, absence, and workforce planning. You will also play an active role in engaging stakeholders with the College's strategic HR agenda, helping managers to understand their responsibilities and enabling them to embed people initiatives effectively within their teams. You'll combine sound generalist HR knowledge with strong relationship‑building skills to help shape the employee experience, support a culture of engagement and wellbeing, and contribute to HSDC's strategic priorities. Responsibilities Partner with managers and senior leaders to deliver the College's people agenda across all campuses. Provide expert advice on HR policies, employment law, and employee relations, ensuring fair and consistent application. Support managers throughout the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, performance, absence, and development. Monitor workforce needs and contribute to creative, practical solutions that improve employee engagement and organisational effectiveness. Work with the People Services team to ensure policies remain aligned with legislation, best practice, and College values. Proactively identify people issues and trends, providing insights and early interventions to prevent escalation. Contribute to the ongoing development of HR policies, processes, and initiatives that strengthen the employee experience. Requirements CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent), working towards, or willing to work towards. A solid grounding in HR practice, with experience of supporting managers across the employee lifecycle. Confidence in advising on HR policies, employment law, casework, and change management. Experience of delivering high‑quality, customer‑focused HR services. Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to influence and coach managers.
