We’re seeking a strategic, values‑led Treasurer to guide our financial growth and governance in our first year as a registered charity.What difference will you make?As our Treasurer, your skills and guidance will directly influence how well Cayr Charity grows and sustains its work. You’ll help us ensure that every pound we receive, from grants, donors, and partners, is used effectively and transparently to deliver community‑led creative health programmes. You’ll help Cayr navigate its early years with sound financial governance, enabling us to secure long‑term funding, build partnerships with confidence, and expand into new areas of public health and wellbeing. Your impact will be felt not just by the board but by the artists, facilitators, participants, and communities who rely on our projects. With your support, we can plan more ambitiously, respond more flexibly, and ensure our systems reflect our values of equity, clarity, and care.What are we looking for?We are looking for someone who is values‑led, collaborative, and committed to building sustainable infrastructure in a small but growing charity. You don’t need to be a qualified accountant, but you should have solid experience in financial oversight, budgeting, or financial strategy, ideally in the charity, social enterprise, or public sector.Experience reviewing management accounts and financial reportsUnderstanding of charity finance principles (or willingness to learn)Confidence supporting financial risk management, budgeting, and reserves planningThe ability to explain financial information clearly to non‑financial trusteesA pragmatic, proactive approach and willingness to engage with the realities of small charity financeWhat will you be doing?As Treasurer, you’ll play a critical role in shaping the financial systems and sustainability of our growing charity. We are delivering ambitious, grant‑funded programmes and are developing a new income generation strategy. We need a Treasurer who can support the board with strategic financial oversight, working closely with the CEO and external accountant.Reviewing and presenting quarterly management accountsAdvising the board on budgeting, risk, reserves, and sustainabilitySupporting financial decision‑making on major projects and funding bidsHelping to embed financial literacy and transparency across the organisationLeading the annual accounts review and reparationThis is a hands‑on but flexible role. While we do not expect you to do the day‑to‑day bookkeeping (which is supported externally), we do want someone who is willing to get to know the charity’s operations, help strengthen our internal financial processes, and ensure we’re building sound foundations for growth.We are particularly interested in applicants who understand the financial needs and challenges of small charities or social impact organisations.
