To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society. Applications are open for a six‑month post based within the Intensive Care Unit at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. This post covers a maternity absence and the successful candidate will join a team of three other clinical fellows in ICU. The fixed‑term post will run until 4 August 2026. Responsibilities Participate in ward rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings and ongoing care of critically ill patients. Provide out‑of‑hours on‑call commitments to the critical care rota, covering weekends and out‑of‑hours as one of two resident doctors. Assist senior trainees from anaesthesia or intensive care with assessment of patients in the Emergency Department and hospital wards requiring critical care input. Supervised assessment of patients in ICU and support critical care consultants with 24/7 coverage. Qualifications Full GMC registration with a current licence to practice. Completion of UK foundation programme or a CREST certificate. Completed ACCS or core training programme preferred; foundation training also accepted for those seeking a critical care career path. Ability to commit to 4 hours per week of dedicated development projects in education, teaching, research, or quality improvement. Education & Development The successful applicant will have a named clinical supervisor and will maintain a portfolio documenting critical care experience. Development projects may include audit, education, and quality improvement projects. Areas of support include: Teaching Mastery learning Quality improvement and research There is no study leave budget attached to these posts; the posts are not recognised for training. Applicants must hold Full GMC registration with a current licence to practice and demonstrate completion of the UK foundation programme or a CREST certificate.
