The Role The Senior Management Accountant will play a key part in managing the month-end close process, managing a team to deliver accurate information in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will be commercially minded and analytical, with the ability to build strong relationships across the business. Responsibilities Prepare monthly management accounts across areas of responsibility with accountability for monthly balance sheet reconciliations. Work alongside Finance Business Partners to deliver insightful variance analysis and commentary against budget, forecast, and prior year. Ensure timely, accurate reporting is distributed to relevant budget holders. Support the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Support the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts in collaboration with department heads and FP&A team. Support the FP&A team by providing financial insight for commercial decisions. Ensure accuracy of data provided. Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting tools, and systems. Support ERP and BI system enhancements and ensure data integrity across platforms. Automate processes and streamline workflows to improve efficiency. Ensure strong internal controls. Work alongside Group Reporting Manager to ensure accounting standards are followed appropriately. Support audit processes and liaise with external auditors as required. Assist with tax and statutory reporting where applicable. Lead and mentor direct reports. Set clear objectives and regularly discuss performance. Who we’re looking for Strong communication skills. Able to articulate complex items in an easy to understand, digestible way. Ability to implement new controls / processes where appropriate across a fast-paced business. Commercially focused with strong analytical thinking. Proactive and solutions oriented. Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Excellent planning and organisation skills. Exceptional attention to detail and focus on quality. Qualifications Fully qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA) - 3 years plus PQE. Minimum 3 years of experience in management accounting, ideally within retail, fashion, or FMCG. Solid understanding of relevant accounting standards (Group reports under FRS 102) and multi-currency consolidations. Advanced Excel skills; experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). Strong understanding of multi-channel business models and inventory accounting. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
