Overview of the Department / Section The Japanese Corporate Banking Department (London) is a front‑office function responsible for business development of customers located in the United Kingdom and other demarcated countries in EMEA whose ultimate parent companies are Japanese corporates. This Department is in charge of overall customer relationships and covers the following tasks. Achieve BSC profit target assigned to the Department Acquire profit by offering MUFG products and services to clients through collaboration with the Primary Offices Discover the seeds of future profits and monetize them with Product Offices support Maximize profit through close communications with MUFG affiliates within and outside the region Strategy planning – building short‑term and mid‑long‑term account strategies for customers and execute them in due course Support the Head of Japanese Corporate Banking Division for EMEA on developing division strategy planning Customer centric – always improve Department’s customer base through necessary customer replacements Contribute MUFG‑wide business expansion for our customers Offer and introduce new products and services for future profits Credit control – create high‑level credit/borrower rating applications through prudent and accurate credit analysis Analyze the Department’s credit portfolio and report to management Compliance and risk ownership – lead the Department in building an adequate risk ownership framework and follow compliance‑related rules MUFG contribution – support and enhance better management/controls at other MUFG offices within the region Number of direct reports None Key Responsibilities Specifically, as a Junior Relationship Manager you will be accountable for independently demonstrating ownership and managing the process of all aspects related to customer transactions for assigned customers (expected to be less complex) and for supporting the Senior Relationship Manager with large clients and complex customer transactions, including but not limited to business promotion, credit analysis, monitoring, operation and risk management within the Company’s and Corporate Banking Department (London). Planning and Strategy Development Manage a client portfolio to meet commercial and risk goals Collaborate with Product Partners to identify solutions that meet client needs Partner with Credit and Compliance stakeholders to meet internal requirements Assist Senior Relationship Manager with origination and strategic business development activities Share information and ideas with other MUFG international branches regularly Develop a strong understanding of MUFG’s credit policy and operational procedures Undertake ongoing training and development to build skills and knowledge Risk Management As a Junior Relationship Manager you will be responsible for managing all relevant risks (including but not limited to market, credit, operational and conduct risks) within the firm’s risk appetite, using market‑leading risk‑management models and monitoring tools. Conduct business in line with internal policies, procedures and regulatory requirements Ensure Global Governance Standards are supported by effective compliance policies and procedures consistently applied across the Corporate Banking Department (London) Provide accurate risk and financial reporting information to management Manage credit assessment flows – credit applications, borrower ratings and other reports with high‑quality analysis, punctually managing schedules Regulatory Compliance Affairs and Change Evaluate and establish appropriate operational and IT systems and controls to enable the Corporate Banking Department (London) to conduct its business in accordance with agreed business plans within the international business framework Controls and Compliance Maintain systems and controls commensurate to the business and in line with regulatory requirements Follow all relevant policies and procedures personally and ensure team members also follow them Relationship with Other Functions and Stakeholders Maintain and enhance good working relationships with stakeholders across the region and globally to share best practices, provide support and develop effective local policies and procedures aligned with the One MUFG and overall Group strategy Work Experience Relevant work experience at front office in Corporate Banking business Relevant work experience in managing credit assessment for large/medium‑sized corporates Work experience within a multicultural working environment Skills and Experience Functional / Technical Competencies Advanced skills in corporate banking, corporate finance, accounting and strategic thinking Extensive knowledge of financial products and services Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) Strong numerical, written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively at all levels Strong accuracy and attention to detail Strong analytical skills and demonstrable accuracy when creating reports Effective team player with well‑developed interpersonal skills Excellent time‑management skills Business‑level fluency in Japanese and English, both written and verbal High PMO skills to manage various projects simultaneously Advanced skills in strategic planning Education / Qualifications Degree level education or equivalent qualifications Personal Requirements Logical and accurate analysis Actively propose effective ideas to drive deals and/or execute processes Effective prioritization and setting of clear action plans to achieve goals Effective execution of tasks to achieve goals and solve problems Provide accurate guidance and development advice to team members Manage and motivate the team to a high standard of performance Set high goals and create new challenges Demonstrate ownership and adopt an agile and flexible approach to work to achieve the goals Work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders to maximize organisational performance Strong influencing and negotiation skills Coordinate different teams towards the goals by finding common ground Act with integrity and responsibility We are open to considering flexible working requests in line with organisational requirements.
