We are looking for a Band 3 MLA within Microbiology who is self‑motivated, committed to quality service, and keen to progress within the field.Main DutiesCarry out a variety of technical tasks and complex skills to support scientific staff.Operate laboratory analysers: Sedimax, DS2, Cepheid, Serosep Enteric Bio, Bactec FX and Mast Urisystem.Setup samples, prepare quality control material, record QC data and manage waste.Assist with triage, booking and problem solving in Specimen Reception areas and train less experienced staff.Maintain high attention to detail and comply with all relevant SOPs, ISO15189 standards and UKAS quality requirements.Qualifications & ExperienceA levels (science subject) or NVQ4, IBMS Certificate of Achievement (Part 2) or Foundation degree.Practical analytical skills in a diagnostic laboratory.Experience with the analysers listed above and with preparing QC material.Strong communication, ability to give and receive complex information, and proficiency in IT and keyboard accuracy.Desirable: customer service skills and knowledge of hospital IT systems.About NWLPThe NWLP induction runs on the first Monday of each month (except bank holidays) and includes laboratory training.
