Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Clinical or Counselling Psychologist/ CAMHS Practitioner Closing date: 11 December 2025 We are a successful and forward‑thinking Tier 2 early intervention service in Hackney that works with children and young people (aged 0‑18) and their families. We are looking for motivated clinicians with qualifications in clinical/counselling psychology, child psychotherapy, systemic and family therapy or other equivalent training, who are interested in working within a CAMHS early‑intervention setting. Main duties of the job You will be responsible and accountable for the provision of an autonomous and accessible Child and Family Mental Health Service in Hackney. You will use specialist knowledge, skills and experience to offer a range of psychological interventions to children and adolescents and their families/carers in the community, presenting with mild to moderate emotional difficulties. A brief intervention of up to six sessions will be offered to families. Person Specification Education / Qualifications Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical or equivalent HCPC registration or equivalent Relevant post‑qualification training Skills / Abilities High‑level communication and facilitation skills with clients and professionals Skills in working with staff and clients from diverse ethnic communities to provide a culturally competent service Ability to draw upon a broad theoretical knowledge base Ability to organise own workload within competing demands Competence in basic IT and keyboard skills Ability to work autonomously or collaboratively within a team and systems Experience Experience of working therapeutically with children, young people and families within a child and adolescent mental health framework Experience of working with multi‑ethnic populations and with interpreters Experience of group work with children and young people Experience of working in a primary care setting Experience of clinically supervising trainees or assistant psychologists Knowledge Knowledge of relevant legislation and national policy framework relating to the NHS/work with children and young people and their families Knowledge of parenting strategies and behaviour management techniques Knowledge/understanding of confidentiality issues Knowledge of the principles of Community Psychology Familiarity with a cultural or ethnic group minority Knowledge of major ethnic language(s) Other Requirements Respectful approach to service users, family, carers, colleagues and other professionals Record of having published in either peer‑reviewed or academic professional journals and/or books Trust Values Understand and demonstrate Trust Values Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and a Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) check will be required to assess prior convictions.
