We are advertising for a fixed term (12 months maternity cover) Band 8a clinical psychologist to work predominantly in our multi-agency integrated Single Point of Access for Kingston and Richmond CAMHS. There are also opportunities within the role for assessment and therapeutic work within our Tier 3 CAMHS services which specialise in the provision of specialist mental health assessments and evidence-based interventions for children and young people presenting to the service with moderate to severe mental health problems and risk.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate, and dedicated Psychologist interested in contributing to a high-quality mental health provision for our local boroughs. You will also be able to take a leadership role in supporting the Professional Lead with the wider developments with the SPA and its integration with Tier 3 CAMHS.
You will be a Clinical Psychologist/Counselling Psychologist registered with the HCPC as a practitioner psychologist.

At the CAMHS SPA, we process and manage all new referrals for children and adolescents in Richmond and Kingston boroughs where there are concerns about emotional/mental health and developmental difficulties. The CAMHS SPA is integrated within Richmond and Kingston Children’s Services and works closely with Children’s social care, including working within the Multi Agency Support Hub (MASH) and our Tier 2 Emotional Health Service, provided through Achieving For Children.

- the ability to adapt to the fast-paced nature of SPA work, with good IT and computer recording skills to navigate between the various IT systems within CAMHS and the local authority.

- be able to deliver a range of evidence-based interventions

The CAMHS SPA are a team composing of Psychologists, a Psychiatrist, Mental Health Nurses, Systemic Psychotherapists, Assistant Psychologists, Administrators, as well as Trainees and Students on regular rotation. We are a friendly team who value each other’s skills and expertise, as well as the importance of having good supportive relationships with each other.
**Locations**:
The main location for this post is Kingston CAMHS, Woodroffe House, Tolworth Hospital. There are options for flexible working in our other bases including Guildhall Kingston Town Centre and Richmond CAMHS, Barnes Hospital, as well as opportunities for some homeworking.
Kingston (Tolworth)
Our community hub in is based at Tolworth Hospital in borough of Kingston close to a number of shops and with good transport links close to the A3 and a bus ride away from Surbiton station, which has fast connections to Clapham Junction and London Waterloo.
- To provide highly specialist clinical psychology services to children, young people and their families / carers across all sectors of care; providing evidence-based psychological assessment and treatment in line with NICE guidance.
- To carry a caseload and coordinate care for those children, young people and families on the caseload;
- To offer advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care. To work within Trust and professional guidelines, to a clear CAMHS job plan.
- To support the Departmental clinical governance structure through the provision of clinical supervision and by providing clinical input to supervisees’ PADRs.
- Within supervision, team meetings and other fora, to support and promote the use of measures within the CYP IAPT framework to evolve clinical practice and enhance user experience.
- To seek opportunities to include service user perspectives in how services are delivered.
- To utilise research skills for practice evaluation and service development, as required by the service and set out in the job plan.
- To work with the team manager and clinical lead to lead the work of a particular team or service area.
